**Athabasca University's Library and Scholarly Resources is currently recruiting for the position of Library Assistant Resource Access.**

As part of Athabasca University's workspace optimization, this role has been assessed to bePlace-Based. This rolecan only be performed 100% in a place-based location in Athabasca.

The Library Assistant Resource Access works closely with the _Learning and Research Services_ and _Collection Services_ teams. The goal of all work is the facilitation of access to resources and excellent customer service.

With the _Learning and Research Services_ team, the successful incumbent will provide direct service at the Library Information Desk, interpreting and responding to patron inquiries and requests for assistance. They will provide instruction and orientation to students in the use of the library's resources, and they will support circulation, the mailroom, and Interlibrary Loans.

With the _Collection Services_ team, the incumbent will work with the Library's ILS (integrated library system) and other library tools to make physical and electronic library materials visible and accessible. They will assist in the delivery of Collections Services, including cataloguing, acquisitions, and e-resources access. They will also be responsible for the processing and maintenance of the library's physical holdings.

**Qualifications**:

- Education:_
- The incumbent will hold a two-year library technician diploma.
- Experience:_
- At least three years of experience in information services and cataloguing.
- Knowledge and Skills:_
- Demonstrated work experience using library databases in a library setting is preferred.
- Excellent interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills are required.
- Excellent time management and problem-solving skills are vital.
- A strong commitment towards service to users is highly desirable.
- Demonstrated experience using Microsoft Office products is important.
- Accuracy and attention to details are essential.
- Experience repairing books is an asset.
- An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
