**Term**:Full Time, renewable yearly based on funding availability (75 hours bi-weekly).

**Salary**:$27.00 - $30.00/hr based on education and experience

**Start Date**: Immediately

SAWIG is a community-based organization, and the coordinator is required to ensure that public outreach, social media, educational programs, and special events are advertised and completed. Knowledge of PEI watershed regulations and environmental laws is important as well as the ability to communicate and collaborate, where required, with Town of Stratford Staff, PEI Watershed Alliance, PEI Invasive Species Council, and various other environmental organizations. In addition to office administration, the coordinator, at certain times of the year, may engage in fieldwork supported by the project manager, field supervisor and summer staff**.**

The coordinator will work with and report directly to the SAWIG Board of Directors and will be supported by a small team of professionals including a Project Manager and seasonal Field Supervisor that report directly to the coordinator.

**General Duties**:

- Planning_
- In consultation with the Board, assess the work to be done across the Stratford Watershed Area and develop and/or refine strategic multi-year plans and priorities that reflect the SAWIG Management Plan and various grant requirements, partnerships, and commitments.
- Prepare and coordinate delivery of detailed annual work plans including project objectives, timelines, budget, human resources, and reporting requirements that are consistent with above.
- Ensure the execution of successful grants and partnerships including preparation of progress and final reports as required.
- Field Operations_
- Physically assess areas of the watershed for restoration and enhancement.
- Collaborate with the Project Manager and Field Supervisor to assign duties, manage field staff, and assess progress of projects.
- Where necessary, work with staff in the field to complete projects such as water quality monitoring, particularly in the off season.
- Ensure safety protocols are followed in particular for chainsaw and canoe safety as well as health practices for personnel such as hydration in hot weather.
- Administrative Management_
- Manage the SAWIG budget and payroll in conjunction with the Board Treasurer and the accountant.
- Prepare monthly and annual reports as required by the Board and grants.
- Maintain appropriate personnel and inventory records.
- Manage staff relations in accordance with applicable provincial and federal legislation.
- Manage all equipment, including purchasing, inventory, use, maintenance, and storage.
- Prepare for and attend all monthly Board meetings.
- Collaboration, Communications, and Community Outreach_
- Develop, promote, and ensure implementation of public outreach, social media, educational programs, and special events.
- Work with the Board to organize public meetings and educational events (may require occasional work outside regular office hours).
- Communicate and collaborate with the Town of Stratford staff, the PEI Watershed Alliance, the PEI Invasive Species Council, and various other environmental organizations and technical experts as required.
- Work with the Town of Stratford in the delivery of joint programs such as the annual ‘Water School’ program and community gardens.
- Liaise with stakeholders, landowners, and residents to promote activities that enhance the environment.
- Acquire landowner permission for access to land for environmental projects.

**Qualifications**:

- A degree, diploma or post-secondary certificate in biology, wildlife management, environmental science, or related field
- Minimum 2 years cumulative experience working in a related environmental field
- Well-developed organization skills
- Experience with grant writing and reporting, budgeting, staff supervision, and public relations
- Experience conducting and supervising environmental field work such as riparian zone restoration, water quality monitoring, wildlife habitat enhancement, etc.
- Knowledge of environmental policy, legislation, and management practices applicable to PEI watersheds
- Ability to handle physical tasks such as heavy lifting and walking for extended periods of time in various outdoor environments required
- Class 5 drivers license and access to own vehicle and cellphone

**Assets**:

- Master's degree in a related field
- Wabanaki-Acadian Forest plant and animal identification skills
- Demonstrated public speaking, presentation, and writing ability (scientific and general)
- Training in tree pruning and planting
- Certifications: Chainsaw Safety, First Aid, CABIN, Drone Pilot, Green Shores
- Experience with GIS software (QGIS, ArcGIS Online, Google Earth Pro)
- Experience creating educational content for social media using Canva
- Previous experience working in an interdisciplinary team with different partners including other NGOs and different levels of government
