Cook/chef (In Childcare Facility)

This position is a full-time Monday to Friday 40hr week role. You are solely responsible for all kitchen duties in a beautiful reggio-inspired child care facility, for up to 150+ children serving 3 meals daily.
- Responsible for the health and safety of the kitchen and children
- Be able to communicate with educators on diet/allergies and ingredients
- Follow allergy and dietary restrictions and offer alternatives for the meals
- Prepare breakfast/snacks/lunches as per the menu provided
- Serve food to the classrooms promptly for teachers to serve to children
- Clean the kitchen, and dishes and store food safely and properly daily
- Create a weekly grocery list based on the menu plan (4-week menu already planned)
- Assist the centre in cooking duties for monthly events/PD days etc.
- Attend staff meetings once a month
**Requirement**:
- Alberta approved Food Handling & Safety Certificate
**Can obtain after employment or having prior is an asset**:
- CPR/First Aid Certificate
- Police clearance with vulnerable sector check within the last 6 months
- Early Childhood Certification (Level 1) would be an asset, **not** a requirement
**Job Types**:Maternity Leave (potential to become on-call cook afterwards)
**Salary**: $18.00 per hour
**Benefits**:after 3 months of employment through AB Blue Cross
**Schedule**:
- 8-hour shift ( typically 7:30 to 4:30 with 1-hour break)
- The location hours are 6:30 AM to 6:00 PM Monday to Friday
**Experience**:
- Cooking in a childcare facility - 1 year (preferred)
Pay: $18.00-$19.00 per hour
