SHEQ acronym stands for Safety, Health, Environment and Quality. In broad terms, a SHEQ Coordinator is responsible for compliance with health and safety regulations, environmental regulations, and quality control, developing and implementing policies and procedures that align with regulatory requirements and industry best practices.
At Princeton Wood Preservers LTD, one of the main responsibilities of our SHEQ Coordinator is to protect employees’ health and safety, ensuring appropriate guidance is being followed at all times. In doing so, our aim is to prevent accidents and protect the business, by ensuring compliance with health and safety rules and regulations.
**Responsibilities**:
- Designing and maintaining SHEQ systems
- Ensuring health and safety, environmental and quality standards are met on-site
- Identifying potential hazards
- Completing risk assessments and on-site inspections
- Suggesting improvements to working processes
- Ensuring staff understand safety procedures
- Checking equipment is safe
- Compiling statistics for reports and presentations
- Monitoring environmental impacts
- Developing and reviewing safety policies and procedures and maintaining all documentation
- Advising and training staff on best working practices
- Investigating accidents or incidents and writing reports
- Liaising with inspectors
**Skills & Requirements**:
- University degree or diploma from a recognized institution with a specialty in environmental science, environmental engineering, soil science, agrology, conservation and reclamation, biology, geoscience, or another relevant environmental program
- Professional designation or potential to obtain designation from a professional association in British Columbia (APEGA, EGBC, AIA, BCIA, CAB, FPBC)
- A minimum of 5 years of relevant experience is required
- Familiarity with British Columbia Contaminated Sites Regulation and Restoration guidelines is required
- Understanding of Quality Management Systems
- Strong people skills, communication skills, technical writing skills and the ability to work as a member of a multi-disciplinary team
- Excellent multi-tasking and critical thinking skills
- Exceptional accuracy and diligence
- Ability to take initiative, ownership, and work independently
- Experience of developing and implementing meaningful SHEQ KPI’s, targeting key areas of improvement, enabling the ability to celebrate success
- Experience of dealing with regulatory bodies stakeholders and external clients
- Strong Microsoft Office skills
**Job Types**: Full-time, Permanent
Pay: $30.00-$40.00 per hour
Expected hours: 40 per week
