**What You'll Do**:
**As a Licensing Specialist**:
- You will ensure that the applicant's radiation safety program meets regulatory requirements and standards.
- You will make recommendations to the Designated Officer about whether to issue, renew, amend or revoke a nuclear substances and radiation devices license.
- Depending on the level, you may interpret regulations and advise applicants on the regulatory requirements and standards.
- You may participate in compliance and enforcement activities.
- You may communicate, report, and advise internally and externally on nuclear substances and radiation devices regulatory matters.
**Essential Qualifications**:
**Education**:
Minimum diploma from a recognized community college with a specialization in science or engineering.
**Language Requirements**:
Bilingual imperative with proficiency at BBB level. If you are unsure of your proficiency level, we encourage you to self-assess here
**Experience**:
**As a REG5 Licensing Specialist, you have experience**:
- Contributing to a program and/or a project that is technical in nature
- With the handling of nuclear substances/radiation devices
**As a REG6 Licensing Specialist, you have experience**:
- Managing program and/or projects that are technical in nature
- In radiation protection aspects of handling of nuclear substances / radiation devices
- Developing and implementing processes and procedures
**Knowledge of**:
- The Nuclear Safety and Control Act (NSCA) and Regulations
- Radioactive contamination control principles and methods (including but not limited to biological effects of radiation exposure)
**REG5 only**: Medical, academic or industrial uses of nuclear substances and radiation devices
**REG6 only**: Medical, academic, and industrial uses of nuclear substances and radiation devices.
**Ability to**:
- Communicate orally and in writing in both French and English
- Analyze information and to draw the appropriate conclusions

**Asset Qualification**:
- Education: Graduation with a degree from a recognized university in Science or Engineering
