Are you a meticulous number-cruncher with a passion for financial systems and reporting? Join our team as a **Financial Analyst**, where you’ll play a vital role in managing Allowable Professional Expense Accounts (APEA) and Fixed Assets for our university.

Reporting to the Financial Analyst, Systems/Reporting, you’ll ensure accuracy and compliance while supervising our Fixed Asset Clerk. If you thrive in a dynamic environment and excel at juggling multiple responsibilities, this opportunity is tailor-made for you.

**What You’ll Do**:

- **APEA** Management**:

- Calculate annual APEA budgets using Access databases while aligning with university policies and union agreements.
- Handle all APEA adjustments throughout the year, including computer purchase contracts.
- Monitor compliance with CRA guidelines, assisting faculty and staff with expense inquiries.
- **Fixed Assets Oversight**:

- Supervise our diligent Fixed Asset Clerk, guiding daily operations.
- Conduct thorough reviews to ensure proper valuation and amortization of assets.
- Champion accuracy in the financial records, leading to auditable year-end reporting.
- **Annual Fixed Asset Count**:

- Spearhead the annual asset verification process, ensuring financial accuracy.
- Coordinate with departments to streamline asset counts and meet deadlines.
- Guarantee integrity through meticulous review and authorization of write-offs.
- **Pre-review of Journal Vouchers**:

- Serve as a reviewer of journal vouchers, ensuring accuracy and validity.
- Collaborate with departments to resolve discrepancies and to provide guidance as needed.
- **Monthly Bank Reconciliations**:

- Conduct monthly reconciliations, ensuring precision between bank records and financial reports.
- Investigate outstanding items and ensure that they are corrected by next reporting period.
- **Other Duties**:

- Set up and close capital funds as requested.
- Respond to Provincial Auditor inquiries regarding areas under this position.
- Maintain balance sheet integrity through meticulous reconciliation practices.

Position Requirements

**What You Will Bring to the Position**:

- Undergraduate Degree in Business Administration or Commerce with the main focus on Accounting; and
- 3 years of related job experience.
- Of benefit would be a Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) designation or working towards obtaining.

**Skills That Will Ensure Your Success in this Role**:

- Demonstrate understanding of the capitalization and amortization process and the significance it has on the financial statements
- Must have knowledge of the CPA Handbook and University financial policies
- Must have good understanding of Microsoft Office including Word, Excel and Access
- Of benefit would be experience with Banner and the Fixed Asset module
- Good organizational skills and the ability to prioritize
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills in order to build and foster relationships with supervisors, co-workers, direct reports, clients, customers
- Superb attention to detail and accuracy
- Strong problem solving skills
- Previous supervisory experience is an asset

Physical Demands Pay Grade APT 3 Salary Range $58,524 - $79,004 annually Status Permanent Work Hours

Monday - Friday, 8:15 am - 4:30 pm, with minor flexibility.
