This position is open to all qualified CUPE staff throughout Lakeridge Health commencing November 2, 2023 and closing at 11:59 pm on November 9, 2023.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Under general supervision of the Manager of Diagnostic Imaging the Porter will be responsible for: transferring and assisting patients within and from the Diagnostic Imaging Department; distribution of laundry for the department; assisting the Technologists in moving and holding patients during procedures; ensuring patient safety and comfort; stocking supplies; preparing and cleaning stretchers; delivering specimens as required; maintaining a safe working environment and other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

- proven related knowledge and experience in Diagnostic Imaging or related environment;
- proven knowledge of universal precautions relating to cleaning and handling of equipment, specimens and supplies, including infection control and health and safety policies and procedures;
- current knowledge of Diagnostic Equipment;
- effective organizational, prioritization and time-management skills;
- proven knowledge and experience using Meditech modules and proficient keyboarding skills (tested);
- effective communication and interpersonal skills;
- ability to work under pressure, exercise independent judgement and organize patient flow through a very busy department;
- proven ability to physically lift, turn and transfer patients manually and with the assistance of mechanical aids; restraining violent patients; capable of walking, climbing stairs, pushing equipment and bending to accomplish tasks. These demands occur frequently throughout the shift;

- demonstrated understanding of and commitment to Lakeridge Health's comprehensive safety programs and practices including staff safety, patient safety, and environmental safety and participation in regular in service education sessions in this area; and
- proven good attendance record with the capability of maintaining this same standard.

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:
The terms and conditions of employment are in accordance with the Collective Agreement between the Hospital and C.U.P.E Local 6364.

Successful applicants must provide a satisfactory Criminal Investigation Reference for the vulnerable sector, dated within the past six (6) months.
