**Canada Summer Jobs Program**

This position is funded in part through the Canada Summer Jobs Program and therefore to be eligible, youth must:

- Between 15 and 30 years of age at the start of the program
- Be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or person whom refugee protection has been conferred under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act; and,
- Have a valid Social Insurance Number at the start of employment and be legally entitled to work in Canada in accordance with relevant provincial or territorial legislation and regulations.

**Position Overview**:
As a Direct Support Person (DSP), you will play an essential role in enriching the lives of adults with intellectual disabilities by facilitating engaging and empowering activities. This position involves providing personalized support and guidance to program participants, empowering them to cultivate essential job skills, life skills, and leisure skills that enhance their overall well-being and independence.

**Responsibilities**:
1. Oversee the daily care of participants, ensuring their health, well-being, and safety are prioritized at all times. Monitor participants closely to provide exceptional support and intervene promptly in case of any concerns or emergencies.

2. Execute planned activities designed to enhance participants' life skills, job readiness, self-help abilities, and leisure pursuits. Utilize carefully crafted lesson plans to guide participants through engaging and enriching experiences tailored to their individual needs and interests.

3. Implement specialized programs aimed at equipping participants with essential skills for navigating various aspects of life, including self-help tasks, recreational pursuits, and preparation for employment opportunities.

4. Take responsibility for sourcing, organizing, and preparing materials required for program activities in accordance with established lesson plans. Ensure that all materials are accessible, relevant, and conducive to participants' learning and engagement.

5. Foster a dynamic and stimulating environment where participants actively participate in meaningful recreational activities that promote social interaction, creativity, and personal growth.

6. Encourage and support participants in developing independence and self-help skills, empowering them to take ownership of their daily routines and tasks to the best of their abilities.

7. Comply with organizational reporting procedures including the documentation of incidents, observations, and program evaluations to ensure accountability and transparency.

8. Cultivate positive relationships among participants and staff members, fostering a supportive and inclusive team dynamic that promotes collaboration, respect, and mutual understanding.

9. Develop and nurture positive connections with participants, their families, supporters, and members of the community, serving as a dependable and empathetic resource for information, support, and advocacy.

10. Provide assistance and support to colleagues through effective teamwork and the sharing of responsibilities, contributing to a cohesive and efficient work environment.

11. Uphold cleanliness standards and ensure a safe environment within the campus by cleaning and sanitizing bathrooms, kitchen facilities, and common areas

12. Actively participate in and contribute to staff meetings, training sessions, and workshops aimed at enhancing professional development and promoting best practices in participant care. Attend these sessions with attentiveness and engagement, leveraging opportunities for learning and collaboration with colleagues
