**Position Summary**

The Quality Control Inspector is responsible for inspecting perishable products at receipt and/or prior to being shipped to our customers to ensure quality and food safety standards are met. The Quality Control Inspector also monitors the cleanliness and condition of the warehouse and coolers to ensure compliance to GMP, and food safety standards.

This role reports to the Warehouse Supervisor, Senior Operations Manager and Senior Quality Assurance Manager.

**Duties and Responsibilities**
- Responsible for checking product condition daily to ensure products staged for shipping or at receipt are within quality standards.
- Inspect, test and/or measure products according to product specifications/customer expectations.
- Verify a certain percentage of all products based on industry standards to ensure they are free from contaminants, and/or quality defects.
- Reject unacceptable products, and initiate corrective action including notifying buyers and/or sales.
- Create and maintain a detailed and accurate report of inspection results, including taking pictures and communicating inspection results to all appropriate personnel.
- Perform pre-operational checks in the warehouse and cold storage units to ensure cleanliness and organization, and initiate corrective action to fix deviations.
- Take storage room temperatures (ambient, refrigerated and frozen) twice a day and initiate corrective action when temperatures are outside of limits.
- Ensure accurate timely processing and organization of workflow for shipping functions.
- Work with warehouse and production staff to ensure proper rotation of inventory, and assist in the reduction of produce waste.
- Assist in customer returns and quality credits to customers.
- Liaise with Buyers, Account Managers, and QA to identify and correct reoccurring problems.
- Oversee product quality for certain key clients and ensure client specific expectations are met and maintained.
- Ensure GMP, food safety and workplace safety practices are strictly followed at all times.
- Ensure compliance with FSSC22000, and CFIA regulations, and assist during audits/inspections.
- Read and thoroughly understand and be familiar with all product specifications, and client expectations.
- Other duties relevant to the position will be assigned as required.

**Requirements**:

- 1 year of work experience in a quality control role in food or related industry.
- Post-secondary education in Food Science/Biology (or related Science).
- Understanding of food safety and packaging processes.
- Excellent communication and written skills.
- Basic computer literacy skills in MS Office.
- Strong logical thought process and meticulous attention to detail.
- Be well organized & able to multi-task in a fast paced environment.
- Ability to work flexible hours and overtime as required.
- Ability to lift up to 50lbs if needed.
- Able to work in cold temperature environment from 2°C for an extended period of time.
- Forklift licence preferred but not required.

**Working Days & Hours**
- Monday-Friday from 8:00AM - 4:00PM. Hours worked per day fluctuate depending on business needs.
