French Translator

**Position: French Translator (4-month Contract)**
**Reports to: Health and Safety Manager**
**Located In: Sudbury, ON - flexible work available**:
**Purpose of Role**
The French Translator is responsible for translating English safety course content, policies and procedures, and associated employee-facing English documentation into French. This documentation includes information that requires occasional employee input and or comparison to actual environment therefore, the ability to be physically present at Sudbury sites is required.

**Essential Duties & Responsibilities**:

- After using selected machine translation tools, the Translator will proof-read that content for accuracy and linguistic consistency.
- Working with the Health and Safety Team, the Translator will ensure common and repeated usage of technical terminology across all documentation.
- Master all related software.
- Take part in all project planning sessions to ensure the completion of all translated content is available by the appropriate dates.
- Work with the Health and Safety team, to update the translation spreadsheet with completed tasks and related information.
- Help to develop a regular translation review process to ensure that all English revisions are properly captured in the corresponding translated manuals and training content.
- Expectation of weekly in-office work.
- Contract employees will be considered for future internal opportunities.

**Qualifications**:
Education
- Working towards or possessing a Diploma or Degree in Translation or Health and Safety is an asset.
- Flexible hours, can accommodate student schedules.
- ATA (American Translators Association) membership is desired or equivalent.

Experience
- Fluency in French and English is required.
- Experience in written translation work an asset
- Experience in Health and Safety an asset
- Experience in manufacturing is an asset.
- Experience using translation software _DeepL_ is an asset.
- Experience using online training system, _Articulate_, is an asset.
