Air Canada, recognized as one of Canada's top diversity employers and one of Montreal's top employers, is seeking a Strategic Procurement Manager - Sustainable Procurement who will be based at our Montreal Headquarters.

Sustainable Procurement is the integration of Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) criteria and CSR principles into traditional procurement processes and decisions. This role will report into the Manager, Sustainable Procurement in the Centre of Excellence (COE) group within the Strategic Procurement (SP) organization.

**Responsibilities**:
The Strategic Procurement Manager - Sustainable Procurement, will primarily be responsible for development and implementation of various ESG-related initiatives (human rights, and diversity topics) including policies, process, programs, and training to promote and drive best practices for Sustainable Procurement across all procurement categories at Air Canada.

Additionally, the role will also be cross trained to support the supplier legal and reputational risk management process within the Strategic Procurement team.

In greater detail, key areas of responsibility include the following:

- ** Advance procurement processes to address Modern Slavery in the Supply Chain**
- Identify opportunities and build upon current procurement processes to ensure that we can advance our Modern Slavery roadmap with consideration to various Modern Slavery legislation.
- Benchmark tools and observe best practices to manage and address Modern Slavery in the Supply Chain
- Stay abreast of Modern Slavery legislation and obligations and inform the procurement team of any new developments
- Identifying and assessing industry risk incidents related to Modern Slavery
- Develop Procurement-specific training deliverables and execute tiered trainings to help sensitize our branch on Modern Slavery in the supply chain
- Determine measurable and reportable KPIs to demonstrate alignment to our compliance objectives
- Support awareness campaigns about the program to internal stakeholders
- Assist in improving supplier mitigation process
- ** Supporting the development and implementation of the Sustainable Procurement Roadmap**
- Support initiatives that affect various phases of the procurement process
- Support initiatives to help stand up a Supplier Diversity Program
- Assist in the development and implementation of a sustainable procurement supplier policy and determining data points for collection
- ** Cross train and support the Supplier Risk Management Program**
- Perform due diligence assessments on suppliers prior to entering into a contract
- Support on-going monitoring of contracted suppliers and provide status and update reports
- ** Contribute to and lead continuous improvement projects and initiatives within the Centre of Excellence team**

**Qualifications**

**Desired Skills & Experience**
- Comprehensive understanding of human rights risk assessment and management and modern slavery reporting
- Knowledge of responsible sourcing and supply chain
- Experience with audience engagement and training
- Knowledge of applicable laws, key frameworks, regulations and regulatory trends (UN Guiding Principles on Human Rights, Canadian Modern Slavery Act
- Knowledge of and passion for ESG topics, policy development and program management
- Previous experience in procurement is required
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills including preparation of reports, training material and visual presentations
- Rigorous attention to details and accuracy
- Values and a strong sense of ethics
- Strategic thinking and analytical skills, with an inclination for problem solving
- Good conflict management, negotiation and influencing skills
