**Key Responsibilities**:

Recording Financial Transactions**:
- Maintain accurate records of all business transactions, such as sales, purchases, payments, and receipts.
- Enter data into accounting software or ledgers.
- ** Managing Accounts Payable and Receivable**:
- Monitor and manage bills, invoices, and payments to ensure they are processed on time.
- Track outstanding receivables and ensure clients/customers pay on time.
- ** Reconciling Accounts**:
- Reconcile bank statements with internal records to ensure consistency.
- Ensure all financial data aligns and discrepancies are addressed promptly.
- ** Payroll Management**:
- Process payroll for employees, including calculating wages, taxes, and other deductions.
- Ensure timely payment of wages and compliance with tax laws.
- ** Managing Financial Records**:
- Ensure all financial records are properly stored, organized, and up to date.
- Assist with preparing and maintaining general ledgers.
- ** Financial Reporting**:
- Generate basic financial reports, including balance sheets, profit and loss statements, and cash flow reports.
- Help prepare reports for accountants or financial managers.
- ** Tax Preparation Support**:
- Help prepare documents for tax filings, ensuring compliance with relevant tax laws.
- Track sales tax, payroll tax, and other applicable taxes.
- ** Ensuring Compliance**:
- Adhere to legal and regulatory financial reporting standards.
- Maintain confidentiality and protect sensitive financial information.
**Key Skills and Qualifications**:
- **
Accounting Knowledge**: A good understanding of basic accounting principles (GAAP).
- ** Attention to Detail**: Bookkeepers must be highly accurate and organized to avoid errors in financial data.
- ** Technical Proficiency**: Familiarity with accounting software. PBS DMS experience an asset.
- ** Organizational Skills**: The ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines effectively.
- ** Time Management**: Prioritizing tasks to ensure that financial records are up to date and reconciled in a timely manner.
- ** Communication Skills**: Bookkeepers often need to communicate with clients, suppliers, and other stakeholders about financial matters.
