The Mann Art Gallery in Prince Albert, SK is looking to welcome a new Artistic Director. This person will co-lead the organization alongside the Administrative Director and with support from a direct liaison at the gallery. They will report to the Board of Directors and make key contributions to the strategic and curatorial vision of the Mann Art Gallery.
The Artistic Director will lead the planning, development, and curation of exhibitions, public programming, and events. They also oversee the management and stewardship of the Permanent Collection of 4,000 artworks. In adherence with gallery policies, the Artistic Director supervises and mentors staff, fostering a culture of creativity and excellence.
The Mann Art Gallery plays a central role in uplifting artists and communities in north-central Saskatchewan. Its small team maintains high standards in its art exhibitions, permanent collection, and educational programming to serve local and regional groups. The Mann Art Gallery has recently converted to the shared leadership model and is eager to step positively into this new direction that supports artistic and community engagement. We are seeking an Artistic Director who has knowledge and experience leading arts organizations, with an open and positive attitude in this period of growth.
**Position**:Artistic Director
**Job Type**:Contract, part-time (22 hours/week on-site). Some evening and weekend work is required.
**Compensation**:$45,000 per year, with an optional benefits plan

**Key Responsibilities**
- **Exhibitions & Education**_
- Curate, plan, and oversee the installation of exhibitions:
- 5-7 exhibitions/year at Mann Art Gallery;
- plan 3-5 exhibitions/year at the John V. Hicks Gallery, in partnership with the Margo Fournier Arts Centre and Prince Albert Council for the Arts;
- Oversee in-house and outreach education programming;
- Engage and support all levels of local and regional artists who come from diverse backgrounds;
- Collaborate on strategic partnerships that broaden support for the Mann Art Gallery and deepen its community impact.
- **Collections**_
- Manage acquisitions, research, storage, and circulation of the Permanent Collection;
- Oversee conservation and proper maintenance of artworks.
- **Operations**_
- Hire and supervise full-time and contract staff such as Manager of Education Programs, Registrar, interns, and summer students when applicable;
- Attend regular board meetings (approx. monthly) and report on all artistic programming activities of the Mann Art Gallery;
- Adhere to all Mann Art Gallery policies and maintain daily operations in accordance with standards of care and ethical conduct;
**Qualifications**
- Proven experience and strong knowledge of leading an arts organization;
- Advanced degree in Fine Arts, Art History, or related fields;
- Demonstrated experience with community engagement, inclusivity, and understanding of the regional arts landscape
- Demonstrated experience managing multiple projects and meeting deadlines;
- Ability to develop and nurture respectful and collaborative relationships with artists, community partners, gallery staff, funders, volunteers, and patrons;
- Strong knowledge of Canadian and Saskatchewan historical and contemporary art, including insight into current goings-on in provincial and national arts;
- Ability to implement professional curatorial standards and knowledge of proper artwork handling;
- Experience with collections management;
- Excellent oral and written communication skills;
- A valid driver’s licence.
