**Position Summary**:
MCHA is seeking a Full-Time Behavioural Interventionist to join our agency's management team. This is a permanent position with a focus on supporting our complex care homes. Working in collaboration with the participants, Supervisors, front-line staff and Behaviour Consultant, the Behavioural Interventionist conducts behavioural assessments for participants to determine their specific challenges and ineffective behaviours. Through that assessment, appropriate behaviour intervention strategies are developed, implemented, and evaluated in the spirit of assisting participants to develop replacement behaviours and further develop skills. effective coping mechanisms develop skills. Coaching and training support team members regarding effective strategies is also a critical component of this position. This role has access to consultation with an external Board-Certified Behaviour Analyst (BCBA).

**Responsibilities**:

- Conduct Functional Observation of Behaviour, Functional Behavioural Assessments, and create individualized Positive Behaviour Support Plans (in consultation with the behaviour consultant/BCBA)
- Develop and facilitate individualized skill building programs.
- Contribute to Personal Development Plans to maximize learning, based on the skills and strengths of participants.
- Work with front line staff, families, and outside service providers/professionals in developing their understanding of positive behaviour supports, intervention recommendations, plan development, and coaching appropriate support strategies.
- Assess and monitor each individual behaviour plan through data collection, address any concerns, monitor progress to ensure effectiveness and promote success for each participant.
- Advise the direct supervisor of any issues/incidents that could significantly affect services or supports for participants, or affect other staff, the DCS or other community partners/agencies.
- Understand the BI's limitations regarding scope of competency and seek consultation with a senior practitioner when needed.

**Job Specification**:
**Education and Experience**
- Bachelor's Degree in Psychology with a focus on Behaviour Intervention, in Applied Behavioural Analysis, and/or Advanced Diploma in Behaviour Interventions, or Bachelor's Degree in Psychology and Registered Behaviour Technician (RBT) certification or Board Certified Assistant Behaviour Analyst certification (BCaBA)
- Experience conducting functional assessments and developing behaviour support plans with adults.
- Experience supporting individuals with mental illness/dual diagnosis, etc.
- An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
- First Aid, CPR, and crisis intervention training are assets.
- Computer skills (MS Word, PowerPoint, etc.)
- Flexibility in work hours required
- Must have access to a reliable vehicle as there is travel within the HRM on a regular basis.
