(Knowledge, Skill and Experience)
- Minimum Grade 12 education or equivalent.
- Preferred knowledge of hemodialysis within the last 2 years
- Preferred working knowledge of dialysis equipment including Fresenius 5008K dialysis machine and water treatment system. Training on machines will be provided to employees.
- Current CPR certification.
- Computer skills to include Intranet, Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word ,Excel) and ORMED systems
- Experience working with and handling of biohazardous materials
- Understanding of sterile techniques and handling of sterile equipment.
- Knowledge of infection control measures and aseptic technique
- Ability to complete the required environmental cleaning.
- Excellent communication, time management, prioritization and critical thinking skills.
- Experience working with chronically ill and palliative clients
- Experience with patient transfers, lifts, and assisting nurses with patient ADLs
- Satisfactory attendance.

ACCOUNTABILITIES (Major Responsibilities of the Position)
- Preparation of dialysis machines including setting up, priming and cleaning of the machine.
- Preparing dialysis supplies for subsequent patient shifts.
- Maintaining supplies for the unit including ordering; manual lifting and sorting of supplies.
- Assisting the dialysis RNs and RPNs with the daily activities of the unit including stocking unit, preparing dialysis pods, patient ADLs, transferring patients, receptionist duties and other varied tasks as assigned.
- Basic patient care (i.e.) weights/providing nourishment, etc.
- All other duties as assigned that support/facilitate care of the patient and/or operation of the unit.
