**Job Summary**:
The primary role of the Construction Shift Boss is to plan, organize and control activities of a construction group, to ensure the project is completed in accordance to company standards and safety practices; to administer, direct and coordinate the functions of the site management and technical personnel; to minimize project cost; and to provide oversight and assist with national construction training program.
- Assist project engineering and construction management when necessary in clarifying or defining parameters and deciding on processes to be utilized
- Monitor and analyze production and operational reports to ensure acceptable progress on the project
- Take appropriate action as critical dates approach to ensure a smooth transition from phase to phase
- Develop and lead crew to achieve planned objective
- Coordinate with vendors, subcontractors, and client authorized project work schedules;
- Supervise sub-contractors and national workforce
- Ensure that subcontractors have current and accurate plans and specifications
- Act as principal coordinator and liaison with subcontractors to ensure contract compliance
- Establish expectations with subcontractors and vendors to ensure solid understanding of contract requirements (including documentation and information), expectations, and timing of required construction and materials

- High School diploma or equivalent
- Post-Secondary education in a mining related discipline or equivalent experience
- Minimum 5 years’ experience as a Lead-Construction Miner
- Ontario Hard Rock Underground Common Core - Full Basic (or other provincial equivalent)
- Ontario Hard Rock Underground Front Line Supervisor - Common Core (or other provincial equivalent)
- Must understand underground work environment
- Must understand responsibilities of leadership
- Ability to multi task and work effectively
- Ability to work efficiently as part of a team as well as independently
- Able to work in team environment, and lead by example
- Willing to mentor others
- Willing to be trained in other aspects of trade
- Ability to read civil prints
- Basic understanding of Mine Regulations pertaining to task
- Ability to conduct risk assessment of specific task
