**LOCATION**: Initial Placement - Fire Administration

**Minimum Qualifications**:

- NFPA 1001 Firefighter I&II, NFPA 1021 Fire Officer I, NFPA1041 Fire Instructor I&II, NFPA 1521 Incident Safety Officer, NFPA 1041 Hazardous Materials, NFPA 1002 Fire Apparatus Driver / Operator,
- Minimum of 5 years in the Fire Service, with training and/or firefighting experience
- Thorough knowledge of NFPA programs and requirements, along with other relevant legislation and regulatory standards, fire apparatus and equipment operation, safety practices and associated training techniques
- Demonstrates a high level of competency in emergency response operations including apparatus, equipment, and fire suppression techniques
- Highly organized and able to coordinate multiple training opportunities with considerable knowledge of Adult Learning Principles to instruct and educate staff
- Able to perform the physical demands of the position, and provide for vulnerable sector screening, Class DZ driver’s license in good standing, and Current First Aid, CPR and AED

**Assets**:

- Certification in Water/Ice Rescue NFPA 1006

**Duties**:

- Coordinates fire department training including instruction plans, training materials and details, and formulating evaluation methodology. Training includes, but is not limited to driver training, pumper operations, firefighter, fire officer, fire inspector, fire investigator, public education and prevention, rescue and extrication, emergency first aid, hazardous materials response, industrial firefighting programs and other specialty courses.
- Performs strategic planning and implementation, including identifying current and future training needs, developing, and managing budgets, monitoring, forecasting, and making adjustments (capital and operations).
- Responsible for the management and maintenance, including lifecycle management, of all training assets.
- Identifies opportunities, develops business plans, through training service provision and managing projects.
- Mentors and coaches staff, new recruits, including the evaluation and final assessment of new recruits in their first year of training and development.
- Liaises and, where appropriate, partners with internal and external agencies to identify emerging needs and/or to maximize training benefits and represent the fire department at various forums and events.
- Evaluates training programs to ascertain quality of training and to ensure that training standards and safety audit requirements are met.
- Emphasizes health and safety throughout training activities.
- Maintains accurate training records through the use of Records Management software and other associated programs.
- Assists with preparation and facilitation of exams and practical evolutions as directed.
- Establishes and maintains curriculum and staff training calendars for all County of Brant Fire Department training activities.
- Responsible for complying with the Occupational Health and Safety Act and Regulations, County of Brant Health and Safety policies and procedures, Fire Division policies and procedures, as well as any established industry guidelines.
- Performs other duties as assigned.

**Annual salary range**: $78,679 - $92,037 (Job Grade 7) 35 hours per week

Flexible schedule with willingness and ability to work evenings, weekends, and times outside normal work hours.
