The Environmental Management Branch consists of two interdependent sections: Environmental Service Delivery, and Environmental Programs, Policy, and Standards (EPPS). This position falls under the Environmental Service Delivery section.

The Environmental Service Delivery section consists of a team of dedicated environmental experts with mandates ranging from broad province-wide program delivery to local minor project support. The section develops and maintains policies, standards, specifications, and procedures; conducts research; provide expert counsel to ministry staff on environmental issues; provides and procures a wide variety of environmental services; and works with regulatory and other bodies to obtain permits and develop industry best practices. The section is responsible for general environmental management and ensuring that due process is followed to protect and /or mitigate impacts from road planning, design, construction, and highway operations on natural, biophysical, and socio-community resources. The section is also involved with several ongoing programs to enhance and manage the highway rights-of-way.

**Job Requirements**:
**Education and Experience**
- An Undergraduate degree or higher in an environmentally-focused program (e.g., Biology, Environmental Studies/Management, Environmental Engineering, Geography, Archaeology) plus 2 years of related* experience, OR
- A Diploma in an environmentally-focused program (e.g., Biology, Environmental Studies/Management, Environmental Engineering, Geography, Archaeology) plus 3 years related experience*, OR
- An equivalent combination of related education and related experience* may be considered.
- **Related experience includes**:

- Experience building and maintaining relationships with internal and/or external stakeholders (e.g. other agencies, ministries, consultants and contractors)
- Experience dealing with environmental issues related to highway or linear development projects (e.g., planning, design, construction, operations and maintenance)
- Preference may be given to applicants who are registered or immediately eligible* for registration with the College of Applied Biologists.
- *Note: Immediately eligible is defined as being registered as a Professional Biologist (RP Bio) in another Canadian jurisdiction and/or able to transfer registration to the College of Applied Biology within 6 months of appointment.
