**Position Summary**:
Reporting directly to the Manager, Outreach and Engagement and working closely with the Youth Outreach Coordinator and members of the Dean’s Office, the Youth Outreach Representative extends the Faculty of Engineering & Design’s outreach activities to primary schools, middle schools, high schools, community centres, and the broader community in a way designed to engage the community in science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM). The Youth Outreach Representative will deliver Virtual Ventures activities, which is a non-profit entity in the Faculty of Engineering & Design (FED) through which many of the STEM outreach activities are run.

**Primary Duties Performed**:
**Youth Outreach**
- Deliver activities and presentations to school classrooms (in-person and/or virtually) relating to the Ontario STEM curriculum;
- Travels to schools and community centers, including on evenings and weekends;
- Represents Virtual Ventures and FED at fairs, competitions, and other outreach events;
- Researches existing and developing new community events to enhance or expand outreach opportunities;
- Assists with the development, review, and revision of activities for workshop and events;
- Assists with the alignment, assessment, and development of content with the Ontario school curriculum;
- Acts as a resource for students, parents, teachers and the general public enquiring about engineering and design programs and career opportunities and their connections to youth outreach activities;
- Communicate regularly with youth, teachers, parents and the broader community.

**Performs Other Duties as Requested**
- Other tasks, related to outreach and recruitment activities.

**Qualifications**:
**Formal education**:
The completion of a university degree, preferably in Engineering, Science, Architecture, Industrial Design or Information Technology. Strong preference given to a Carleton undergraduate degree.

OR

Currently enrolled in a university degree, preferably in Engineering, Science, Architecture, Industrial Design or Information Technology with availability for a 4-month or 8-month coop assignment. Strong preference given to a Carleton student.

**Requirements**:

- Valid G2 or G Driver’s license (or equivalent license)
- Strong ability to work independently
- Confident presentation skills
- Ability to work simultaneously on numerous and diverse projects
- Excellent interpersonal skills and proven ability to work successfully within a dynamic team environment
- The ability to work well under pressure including prioritizing workload, meeting deadlines and adapt quickly to changing priorities
- Excellent organizational, time management and superior attention to detail

**Assets**:

- Knowledge of Carleton University campus
- Knowledge in online platforms such as Zoom, MS Teams, Google Meets

**Overtime work may be required on evenings and weekends**:
September-April: 2-4 times per week

**Salary**: $29.54 per hour
