Mgr, Automation

**_Summary of Responsibilities _**

Has an overall understanding of the operations of the automation department including day to day operations, sales cycle, paperwork flow, forms process and procedures.

**_Major Tasks, Responsibilities and Key Accountabilities _**
- Reports and works with the Branch Manager.
- Develops, manages, and grows revenue of the Automation Department in the Branch which includes but not limited to the following:

- Building and maintaining a Valve Automation shop and inventory.
- Hiring Technicians, Inside Automation Sales and Production personnel as needed and approved by the Branch Manager.
- Managing employees in the department.
- Adhering to and managing the ISO procedures and processes with the Company QC department including paperwork and process flow.
- Growing the Department by assisting the Outside Sales team with customer relationships including Sales Calls and Technical Meetings.
- Troubleshooting problems and customer issues.
- Help review large E&C projects to verify our compliance with the PO requirements.
- Coordinating direct order production that is not completed in Sunbelt’s Canada facility.
- Assist with invoicing automation orders.
- Create AutoCAD type drawings for projects and Valve Automation Packages as needed.
- Oversee and maintain Technical and OTJ (on the job) training for technicians, production clerical, coordinators, expeditors, and inside sales.
- Oversee and maintain safety records including but not limited to Safety Training, yearly calibration of equipment and forklift / crane daily inspection.
- Assisting IT with improvements
- Monitoring inventory

**_Preferred Qualifications _**
- Knowledge of principles and processes for providing customer and personal services.
- Knowledge of machines and tools, including their designs, uses, repair, and maintenance.
- Knowledge of design techniques, tools, and principals involved in production of precision technical plans, etc.

Training/Experience:

- Typically requires BS/BA in related discipline. Generally, 2+ years’ experience in related field. May require certification. Advanced degree may offset less experience in some disciplines.

Problem Complexity:

- Solutions require analysis and investigation.

Autonomy:

- Achieves planned results by decisions and actions based on professional methods, business principles and practical experience.

Leadership:

- Manages or supervises support staff.

**_Environmental Job Requirements _**
- Located in indoor area and or warehouse / shop. Any unpleasant conditions would be infrequent and not objectionable.
- Most of the time is spent sitting in a comfortable position or walking and standing. There are occasions that may require to lifting or moving light articles.
- Typically requires overnight travel less than 10% of the time.
