**Full-Time Personal Support Worker**

**(2 Vacancies)**

At Community Care Durham, coordinated networks of volunteers and inter-professional staff, working out of integrated community hubs and other locations, strive to enrich the well-being and quality of life for people who choose to live at home. As the largest community support services agency in Durham Region, CCD collaborates with its partners and the broader community to address community issues and support local citizens to achieve their goals to live independently.

Reporting to the Director, Personal Support Services, the Personal Support Worker (PSW) provides assistance to clients receiving a variety of services including Access to Primary Care, Assisted Living for High-Risk Seniors, In-Home Respite, Home At Last (HAL), Home First, and Supportive Housing. PSW is to provide safe and appropriate care to clients, all health and safety practices must be followed as they pertain to the workplace; including the standard operating processes when working with infectious diseases, ambulating clients, driving clients, etc.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

- Personal Support Services including dressing, personal care
- toileting, shower/ bed bath
- Homemaking services including shopping, meal preparation; light housekeeping: dishes, floors, bathroom, laundry, etc.; other related activities if client can be left alone
- Completing necessary client/visit documentation and reports
- Assists the clients with lifts, transfers and ambulation
- Completes errands with or without client depending on their ability. Errands can include prescription drop off and pick up, medical equipment pick up, grocery shopping and any other appropriate tasks identified on referral or by the client which will support their ability to live at home.
- Must be willing and able to work throughout Durham Region

**Qualifications required**:

- Personal Support Worker certificate (minimum of 600 hours in duration, including in class and practicum experience), or acceptable equivalent (e.g., RN or RPN, RN or RPN student) and experience in the community setting
- Current Standard/Emergency First Aid with Level C CPR
- Satisfactory Police Vulnerable Sector Check or Enhanced Police Information Check
- Current immunization record (TB test completed within the past 12 months) is required upon hire
- Licensed vehicle and the ability and willingness to drive within Durham Region
- Maintenance of class G or G2 Ontario driving license maintenance of class and clean Drivers Abstract
- Comfortable working alone in the community (Supervisor or Service Coordinator on call)
- Sensitivity to the needs of the frail elderly and persons with disabilities, including challenges in cognition
- Physical ability sufficient to perform client transfers and activities of daily living and able to lift approximately 50 lbs., bend, stretch, stand for extended periods of time, climb stairs, reach, twist, sit, walk, and/or run

**Compensation**:$21.55 per hour, plus the additional $3 wage enhancement, 3 (three) weeks’ vacation per year of work (pro-rated to hours worked); 9 paid (including stat) holidays, 3 paid float days; health, insurance and pension benefits when eligible.
- Pay will be commensurate based on education and experience.

Pay: $21.55 per hour
