**JOB DESCRIPTION**
**Duties**:
This Physical Security Advisor position resides within Corporate Security. This position
regards to physical security deployments, plans, delivery, and methodologies. Fundamentally, this
role ensures BC Hydro maintains integrated physical security that protects our facilities, people,
and operations. This includes conducting risk and vulnerability assessments and ensuring the
technology and/or physical security posture being deployed is forward thinking, and integrates
with operational requirements, and at a minimum meets critical infrastructure protection
requirements. The role will ensure rigorous security standards are met along with appropriately
manage associated costs. The position will establish strong working relationships with internal
business units, at all levels of the organization, and with external law enforcement, intelligence
and partner agencies.

Familiarity with North American Electric Reliability Corporation (NERC) Critical Infrastructure
Protection standards is an asset. The role requires strong communication skills to be a change
agent for and promote a culture of good security.

Summary of the Role:
will have primary responsibility for immediate oversight of the enterprise-wide guard operations
which may include such things as security operations planning, guard deployment audits, field
inspection and testing, and recommendations for future improvements. In addition, the position will
support security operations across all BC Hydro work sites, including incident response. The
position may conduct or support investigations and will do so in a professional manner, ensuring
privacy.

This Physical Security Advisor contributes to the Corporate Security program. The desired
- programs and associated systems.
- Specific Duties and Responsibilities:

- Occupying the Security Advisor role, you will report to the Manager of Security as part of the
- company’s Security & Emergency Management team. Your overall goal is to provide security
related expertise to safeguard BC Hydro. You will also be responsible to be familiar with security
- standards, relevant operating procedures, and NERC CIP compliance requirements. Your primary
- role will be to develop and manage the guard operations program of the enterprise-wide security
- contract, and you will develop security plans, and where appropriate bring new ideas or creative
- solutions to improve security posture, reduce operating expenses and/or create more efficiencies.
- You will also collaborate with others learning about their security needs so that physical security
- and plans support their operations while maintaining cost-effective security. Critical to the
- achievement of this goal is ensuring that the security protocols and processes adhere to BC
- Hydro’s security policy, objectives, standards and work practices, including privacy requirements
- of personal information while meeting compliance requirements.
- Other Duties, Responsibilities and involvement:
- Manage the guard operations contract to ensure a robust physical security program is in place

including quality assurance and asset management practices- Respond to relevant incidents as required as a member of the Corporate Security team
- Develop, write and recommend standards, methodologies, procedures and guidelines for

minimizing security risk and the ongoing protection of people and assets- Audit invoices related to guard operations including projects, plans, and emergency services.
- Produce necessary reports showing security operations status and costs including such things

as security operations plans, invoicing, guard deployment reports, corrective actions, and other
- data as required.- Complete threat vulnerability assessments of facilities
- Build and maintain relationships within BC Hydro in areas such as Properties, Field Operations,

Stations, Human Resources, Employee Relations- Integrate with internal teams to ensure appropriate quality controls and asset management
