The Building Manager reports to the Manager, Indigenous Housing and is responsible for a broad range of duties related to maintenance and cleanliness of the building as well as tenant relations and administration.

Vancouver Native Housing Society (VNHS) was founded in 1984 and currently runs a portfolio of 19 buildings with almost
900 units, providing family, individual and supportive housing options in several Vancouver neighbourhoods. We are tireless in our efforts to provide attainable, inclusive housing and services for Indigenous people, by empowering collaborative teamwork and responsible stewardship. We take a people-centered approach to managing our buildings to uphold high quality expectations for maintenance and repair and ensure a positive resident experience.

**ABOUT YOU**

You are an energetic and highly relational individual with multiple skills and experiences that relate to maintenance, custodial, landscaping and administrative duties in an urban residential setting. As important, you are knowledgeable about

**THE ROLE**
- Responsible to ensure the buildings is maintained to a high level of cleanliness and good repair
- Schedules, supervises, and directs the work of building service workers, resident support workers and security staff
- Maintains manual and electronic employment records
- Provides introduction and orientation for new tenants
- Works with the property management team to conduct and document move-in and move-out inspections
- Deals with emergencies and reports incidents
- Assists in identifying and de-escalating conflicts that arise within the resident population and works towards creating an environment of trust while maintaining healthy boundaries
- Assists in ensuring rent is collected and informs residents of changes to rents or other charges
- Builds positive relationships with residents and supports their personal development by encouraging healthy life choices and involvement in building activities
- Inspects common areas and building exterior to identify needed maintenance and repairs
- Prepares and provides various reports as requested
- Other related duties as directed

**To be the best fit for this position you will need**:
Minimum High School Diploma Minimum 2 years’ experience managing residential buildings
Experience within an Indigenous setting Experience with Property Management software (an asset)
WHMIS and Food Safe (an asset) First Aid Certification
Knowledge of residential building systems Experience in use of custodial and landscaping equipment
Knowledge of construction trades Knowledge of safety policy and best practices
Proficiency with software including MS Office Experience in office administration and document management
Understanding of the Residential Tenancy Act Ability to safeguard sensitive and confidential information

Job type: Full-time Wage range: $24.70 - $26.60/hr

Building Manager roles are union based (Union of Food and Commercial Workers Canada).

This position will require 24/7 accessibility by phone to meet operational deadlines.

**Salary**: $24.70-$26.60 per hour
