Development Chemist

This is a key position focused on improving performance of the currently produced polymeric additives and manufacturing processes; conducting product testing, facilitating product/process scale up in the pilot plant and supporting customer specific projects.

Duties and responsibilities
- Work independently and in collaboration with others on a range of polymer additives synthesis and modifications (plasticizers, heat stabilizers, polymer modifiers
- Conduct qualification of raw materials according to the established procedures
- Experience in chemical and polymer synthesis (lab bench scale) is a must; knowledge or organotin chemistry and/or emulsion polymerization experience is a plus
- Conduct chemical analysis and polymer characterization in accordance with the established procedures.
- Conduct literature searches as needed.
- Capable of operating and maintaining lab instrumentation
- Carry out synthetic product optimization projects
- Facilitate product/process scale-up in the pilot plant
- Visit customers to address their product needs and troubleshoot their processes
- Excellent communication skills; report writing
- Assistance with maintaining laboratory supplies and inventory

**Qualifications**:

- B.Sc./ M.Sc. in Organic Chemistry, Polymer Chemistry or Equivalent
- Previous work experience in the industrial chemical laboratory environment is expected
- Computer proficiency

Working conditions
- Work will involve activities in the lab and occasionally pilot plant
