BCIT’s **School of Health Sciences** is seeking a **regular, full-time (1.0 **FTE**) Tech Staff **III**, Occupational Health & Safety and Environmental Public Health **to support both the **Environmental Public Health** (50%) and **Occupational Health and Safety** (50%) **Programs**. Duties will include ensuring laboratory equipment is properly maintained, preparing supplies and equipment for laboratories, maintaining an up-to-date, tidy and safe laboratory environment for students and faculty; maintaining an inventory of equipment and supplies and placing orders as required; support industry service course scheduling, setup and disassembly.-
- Takes initiative; works independently and reliably with limited supervision
- Practices effective time management: organizes daily/weekly/monthly workflow; adaptable to changes in workflow; prioritizes activities to meet deadlines
- Has good problem-solving skills: troubleshoots problems effectively

**Duties & Responsibilities**

**DUTIES** **AND**

**RESPONSIBILITIES**:
Under the direction of Environmental Public Health and Occupational Health and Safety Instructors, supports student laboratory sessions through the following activities:
- Prepare and clean laboratory equipment for student use.
- Verify instrument accuracy through calibration.
- Purchase supplies and equipment, adhering to budget constraints.
- Perform routine maintenance on laboratory equipment and coordinate repairs.
- Manage room schedules for program activities.
- Coordinate transportation logistics for field trips and off-site activities.
- Order consumable items essential for laboratory operations.
- Coordinate equipment servicing and maintenance.
- Procure and manage supplies for program delivery.
- Oversee acquisition, distribution, and maintenance of program-specific PPE.
- Conduct inventory management to track supplies and equipment.
- Provide technical assistance and support during laboratory sessions.
- Maintain accurate documentation of laboratory procedures and safety protocols.
- Participate in training and professional development activities to keep current of new technofixes and equipment.
- Ensure all laboratory spaces and equipment is operated and maintained in accordance with occupational health and safety requirements.

**Qualifications**

**QUALIFICATIONS**:

- Diploma of Technology or equivalent from Environmental Public Health, Occupational Health and Safety, Chemistry and/or Laboratory sciences or other related education
- Ability to operate, maintain, understand and procure a wide range of scientific and technical instruments and materials in support of a wide range of student laboratory classes.
- Minimum four years of recent, related experience

**Other Skills/Abilities**:

- Physical ability to fulfill the duties of the position including moving equipment and supplies and reaching upper shelving.
- Stay current on emerging technology, safety, and regulatory requirements.

**Salary Range**
- Salary Range: $66,196 - $78,844 per annum.**Additional Salary Information**
