Position Scope

Reporting to the Director, IP, you are an Engineer who contributes to the development and support of CE’s intellectual property portfolio. You will contribute to developing the IP strategy as CE’s business grows and expands.

**Responsibilities**:
You will be part of an experienced & talented IP team, supporting the Director, IP with:
Managing intellectual property assets
Corresponding with external IP counsel on patent & trademark matters
Review of IP sensitive disclosure material
Updating, execution of IP Protocols and training
Review of IP provisions within various contracts/agreements
Technology and IP document control
Interdepartmental dissemination of technical info including TEA, IP analytics and technology licensing data
Project Management of internal and external projects relating to the above technical fields
Supporting Legal and Technical teams with IP and Confidentiality provisions associated with NDAs, contracts, licensing and government funding activities

Technical

**Technical Analysis, Writing and Presentations of**:
Patents -including but not limited to drafting, and prosecution
Freedom to Operate activities
Patent Infringement and Validity activities

**Creation and management of technical documentation for**:
Patent Landscape Analysis
Techno Economic Analysis (TEA)
Technology licensing updates and reports
Due diligence activities

Education and Experience

**Education**:
BASc/BEng degree in Engineering or Equivalent

**Experience**:
5 to 7 year’s work experience
Expertise in claims drafting and patent strategies
Experience in technology licensing
Ability to distill complex problems into simple solutions
Ability to collaborate in a fast-paced multi-disciplinary team environment; including the ability to effectively communicate and navigate through the interfaces between technical, business, legal and administrative teams

Key Competencies

Experience and comfort working in a fast paced commercial and/or R&D environment.
High level of independence and self-motivation - ability to come to the table ready with solutions.
Thrive on doing things that have not been done before (explorer mindset) and tackling challenging problems.
