**Description**:

- Reporting to the Payroll Manager, the Payroll Clerk, Principal Class is responsible for preparation of accurate, timely and confidential payrolls.
- More specifically, but not limited to, the Payroll Clerk:
- Evaluates and processes the payroll using the existing payroll system;
- Compiles payroll related data in accordance with the collective agreement, government laws and pension regulations;
- Processes records of employment using government software system;
- Is responsible for year-end update of employee data to ensure accuracy of T4s and processes T4s;
- Compiles reports upon request, both for the College and external use;
- Responds to general payroll inquiries from internal and external sources;
- Verifies and maintains up-to-date payroll records and files;
- Processes manual payroll cheques, as needed;
- Attends meetings, training sessions, and workshops as required;
- Performs other related tasks as required; may be asked to coordinate the work of casual employees.

Other related tasks which fall within the scope of the classification of this position may be assigned.

- Qualifications:
- Diploma of vocational studies (DEP) in an appropriate specialty, or a secondary school diploma (DES), or a diploma or an attestation of studies which is recognized as equivalent;
- At least six (6) years of pertinent experience.

Conditions related to the specific position:
- Demonstrated knowledge of payroll fundamentals;
- Familiarity with payroll compliance legislation: government regulations dealing with payroll, deductions at source, pension and labour laws;
- Demonstrated ability to work under tight, non-negotiable deadlines;
- Functional English & French oral and written communication skills (to be tested);
- Basic knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel (to be tested).
