**Permanent Full-time**: 35 hours per week, 12-month position

**Salary**: $70,873 - $82,912

**Reports to**: Accounting Supervisor

**Location**:Bluewater District School Board Education Centre, Chesley, Ontario

The Financial Analyst is responsible for assisting in the development and maintenance of accurate financial information for effective fiscal planning and reporting, in accordance with professional and board requirements.

**Qualifications and Experience**:

- Post-Secondary degree/diploma in Accounting or Business Administration
- Professional Accounting designation or actively pursuing a designation (senior level student)
- Minimum three (3) years progressive accounting and budget analysis experience while working in a Finance department within a school board or other public sector entity

**Responsibilities**:

- Monthly budget monitoring, reconciliations, variance analysis, projections, and financial reporting
- Assist in preparation of Estimates, Revised Estimates and Financial Statements for Ministry of Education and board purposes
- Responsible for the maintenance of the general ledger chart of account and reports
- Responsible for appropriate accounting treatment of tangible capital assets
- Provide guidance and training to colleagues and staff in area of expertise, board procedures, Ministry financial requirements and accounting standards
- Research, track and support funding changes as required
- Liaise with external stakeholders, e.g., Ministry of Education, external auditors, financial institutions, and all levels of management
- Complete Ministry (or other governing body) reports pertaining to spending on a per project/grant basis
- Provide analysis and research backup for complex entries
- Prepare ad hoc analysis under strict time constraints to support business decisions
- Prepare and present accurate, timely and concise recommendations to support analysis and strategic priorities
- Assist in process improvement opportunities which may involve re-engineering or enhancement of business processes for finance or business information systems
- Other duties as required

**Assets**:

- Knowledge of Public Sector Accounting Board (PSAB) accounting standards, and Canadian Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
- Understanding of finance and budget requirements and proven ability to relay that understanding to others in the organization to meet strategic goals
- Experience in financial analysis, developing research, sensitivity analyses, report writing, documentation related to financial procedures
- Excellent communication and presentation skills that promote and guide others to understanding of complex information
- Proven inter-personal skills exhibiting diplomacy, constructive team-based skills and abilities
- Results oriented, with the ability to ability to manage multiple priorities under strict deadlines
- Strong analytical, organization, interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills
- Advanced excel skills with the ability to manage large amounts of data
- Proficient with computerized financial systems, such as K212 Finance/Edsembli FIN, and Microsoft Office Suite
