**Post Majority Support Services (Kîwîtin Acâhkos - Yidah)**

Post Majority Support Services is a new program that provides individualized support to First Nations young people aged 18 - 26 as they prepare for independence. The program is designed for youth exiting or leaving care due to having reached the age when mandated or legislated services end, and who are considered ordinarily resident on-reserve.

The Post Majority Support Services Program is looking for a full time Cook. The Cook will plan and prepare daily meals for Indigenous young adults who are part of the Post Majority Support Services Program. The Cook will be responsible for the overall operation of the kitchen including maintaining the kitchen facilities and equipment, maintaining adequate food inventories, and ensuring all residents and staff are fed 3 meals per day. This position will report to the Senior Manager, Post Majority Support Services Program, and will be based in Edmonton.

**Responsibilities**
- Prepare 3 meals per day to in-house residents and staff of the Post Majority Support Services Program.
- Keep the kitchen clean, sanitary and safe by following all Alberta health and safety guidelines.
- Ensure food storage and meal preparation follows food safety and hygiene regulations.
- Check and ensure quality of food ingredients including expiration dates.
- Supervise kitchen helpers.
- Work with kitchen staff and Senior Manager to budget, monitor and project for food and supplies for the kitchen.
- Prepare weekly menus and post on bulletin board each week for residents and staff.
- Prepare special meals for events such as birthdays, holidays, and events and as requested.
- Maintain respect, open and honest communication at all times with residents and staff.
- Serve as a role model to young adults.
- Prepare nutritious healthy food while working with different food allergies, sensitivities and restrictions.
- Able to work with food suppliers for orders, supplies and requests.
- Actively participate in Treaty 8 Urban office staff development, training and events.
- Other duties as requested.

**Qualifications and Education Requirements**
- High School diploma or equivalent. Diploma from a culinary school would be considered an asset.
- 3 to 5 years previous work experience as a cook.
- Alberta Food Safety Certification
- Understanding compliance of food safety laws (federal, provincial and municipal)
- Valid class 5 driver’s license, reliable vehicle with $2 million liability insurance
- Provide 3-year driver’s abstract.
- Knowledge and understanding of First Nations communities, culture and language an asset.
