We are currently looking for a full-time logging truck driver to join our Freeman Lumber
Woodland Team. This role reports to the Woodland Manager and will be responsible for operating a logging truck in the Lunenburg and Queens County area (local area with 150 kms of
Freeman Lumber Mill), including:
- Loading/unloading truck
- Transporting logs from remote forest locations to saw mill which will require both on and off-highway driving
- Responsible for daily pre-trip and post-trip inspections of truck, check all fluids, tire pressure, lights and air components during pre-trip inspection
- Check all load documentation for accuracy, inspect load and receive required signatures for pickup and delivery
- Ensure assigned routes are completed in a timely and safe manner
**Skills/Abilities**:
- Ensure compliance of safe work practices and health and safety policies and procedures.
- Work with mínimal supervision.
- Ability to multi-task while working under pressure.
- Able to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing.
- Must be physically capable of bending, reaching, lifting and able to work in extreme environments (hot, cold, rain, snow).
- Availability to work shiftwork (day/evening shifts), weekends, holidays, and overtime hours.
**Qualifications**
- Minimum 5 years’ trucking experience
- Loading/unloading experience required
- Valid Nova Scotia Class 1 Drivers License
- Drivers abstract required
- Some mechanical skills required
- Must be qualified to work in Canada
**Compensation**: $24.20 per hour
