Metallurgist

**Job Overview**

We are growing, and we are seeking a skilled and motivated Metallurgist to join our dynamic team at a leading diamond tools manufacturing company based in North Bay. As a metallurgist, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the quality, performance, and innovation of our products through your expertise in metallurgical processes.

**R&D and Process Improvement**
- **Materials Analysis**: Conduct detailed analysis of raw materials and finished products using metallurgical techniques to ensure quality standards are met.
- **Process Improvement**: Collaborate with the production team to optimize manufacturing processes, reduce defects, and improve product performance.
- **Research and Development**: Participate in research and development projects to develop new diamond tools and technologies for manufacturing diamond tools.
- **Quality Control**: Partner with the Quality department to implement and maintain quality control procedures to monitor material properties, performance, and durability.
- **Supplier Qualification**: Assist the purchasing department in the qualification of critical suppliers to maintain high-quality standards and reliable supply chains.
- **Continuous Improvement**: Collaborate with the continuous improvement department to deploy equipment that positively impacts the manufacturing process, contributing to efficiency and quality enhancement.

**Support**
- Provide technical support to production teams, troubleshoot issues, and recommend corrective actions. Work closely with the sales team to offer support to our customers and improve product performance.
- Provide technical training on drilling techniques and products according to the training plan to ensure the team is well-equipped with the necessary skills and knowledge.
- Participate in meetings with site technicians to enhance the portfolio of development projects, gather feedback on products from competitors, and contribute to ongoing R&D projects.

**General**
- Documentation: Maintain accurate records of metallurgical tests, analyses, and reports for continuous improvement.
- Team Collaboration: Work closely with cross-functional teams including engineering, production, sales and quality assurance to achieve company objectives.
- Continuous Learning: Stay updated with industry trends, advancements in metallurgical science, and best practices to contribute to the company's competitive edge.

**Qualifications**:

- Bachelor's degree in Metallurgy, Materials Science, or related field. Advanced degree or certifications are a plus.
- Proven experience in metallurgical analysis, process optimization, and quality control within a manufacturing environment.
- Strong knowledge of metallurgical principles, materials characterization techniques, and testing methodologies.
- Proficiency in relevant software tools for data analysis and reporting.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively in a fast-paced, dynamic team environment.
- Strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and a proactive mindset towards continuous improvement.
