The Kootenay Co-op is looking for a part time Butcher Shop Clerk. This position includes slicing deli meat, packaging product and cleaning the Butcher Shop.

**DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES**
- Comply with all Interior Health and Health Canada operating procedures.
- Ensure all food handling equipment, coolers, displays, storage areas and workspaces meet health department regulations, and flag any identified equipment maintenance requirements, and calibration/accuracy requirements.
- Perform slicing and packing for Grab & Go sections.
- Communicate to the department manager any problems or situations that arise.
- Participate in regular department meetings, and whole store meetings.
- Perform end of night cleaning and service case shutdown procedures.
- Comply with the policies and procedures set out in the Employee Handbook and Health & Safety Manual.
- Other duties as required.

**SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES**
- Ability to safely perform repetitive, physically demanding tasks.
- Current FoodSafe certification and practical understanding of food safety.
- Ability to accurately follow operating procedures.
- Dependable and trustworthy.
- Exhibits quality performance and openness to learning.
- Demonstrates conscientiousness of others and self.
- Engages with Co-op’s policies, procedures, goals, and values.
- Ability to work independently.
- Experience with production in a retail environment.
- Impeccable attendance & punctuality; ability to clock-in/out accurately
- Excellent customer service skills and the ability to develop and maintain favorable relations with customers, staff, and vendors.
- Cooperative, respectful communication skills
- Ability to approach problems with a positive attitude and have creative, constructive solutions on hand.
- Ability to handle stressful situations in a calm manner.
- Basic understanding of the cooperative movement and what makes us different
- General product knowledge, such as location of items or categories within the store
- Ability to safely use all meat equipment.
- Ability to properly and safely lift up to 50 pounds.

**Job Types**: Full-time, Permanent

**Salary**: $16.75-$18.00 per hour

Expected hours: 32 - 40 per week
