**In Her Shoes - Youth Employment Training Program for women (cis and trans) and gender diverse individuals between the ages of 15-30 (Funded by the Government of Canada)**

In Her Shoes is a youth employment training program that aims to help youth who are experiencing barriers to securing employment. In this program, you will receive technical training and work experience in our bricks & clicks social enterprise store, YW Thrift Boutique, where we sell new and used fashion apparel and home decor.

As a participant, you will receive skills training in in-demand computers skills and software, customer service and support, online business and e-commerce, retail work, point of sale systems and cash handling, marketing and photography. You will also receive support to develop life skills and employment skills, build a resume that will get you an interview, and learn how to ace that interview. We will also support you to secure employment upon graduation in a position that supports your career goals.

**Eligibility**:

- Women (including cis and trans) and gender diverse individuals between the ages of 15-30
- In search of immediate permanent full-time or part-time work
- Canadian Citizen, Permanent Resident, or a protected person as defined by the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act
- Legally entitled to work in Canada and according to provincial regulations
- Not currently working or in school part time
- Commitment to program throughout 12 week period for 35 hours per week

**Participants will gain skills and experience through;**
- Life Skills Workshops including mental health care and social supports
- Learning what employers are looking for
- Certification Training IE First Aid & CPR
- Website and retail store management
- Online and in person marketing strategies such as photography workshops, small business social media management and stylizing displays
- Potential for work placements at other local businesses upon completion of work experience

**Opportunity Details**:

- Next program session anticipated start date: April 3, 2023
- Participation Hours: Full-time (35 hours per week). Monday to Friday, 10:30 am to 5:30 pm, with all stat holidays off
- Location: This program is offered in-person at our downtown Kitchener YW Thrift Boutique location (102 King Street West). Chromebook can be provided.
- Anticipated Duration: 12 weeks
- Pay Rate: $15 per hour + bus pass
