Administrative Full-time New Position

**Responsibilities**:
**Project Support Activities**
- Participates in the planning and development of departmental roadmaps for project and ongoing operational needs
- Works closely with the team including data engineers and BI developers to ensure data standards and requirements are maintained in-line with business needs
- Ensures ongoing effective & efficient documentation of data requirements to support the build of logical and physical data models, extraction and transformation pipelines, data stores and reports in-line with business requirements and/or solution documentation
- Develops and implements data strategies, builds data flows and constructs conceptual data models supporting new or changed business requirements
- Designs and creates logical and physical model designs utilizing best practices and established organization standards, supporting the implementation of the data lake(s), data marts and operational data stores as part of the overall established enterprise data architecture
- Designs, implements and documents data architecture and data modelling solutions and contributes to the creation and maintenance of related standards and policies;
- Recommends opportunities for reuse of data models where possible in new environments to help manage and reduce redundancy
- As part of the Agile/Scrum process, monitors and provides timely updates on all project tasks and deliverables, ensures requirements/deliverables are reflected in user stories and tracked to completion

**Operational**
- Develops and implements standards and procedures for data management and data integrity, and ensures data models align to these organization standards
- Writes complex SQL queries to access and manipulate data
- Ensures data accuracy and integrity through proactive monitoring/analysis
- Troubleshoots data issues and recommends solutions
- Supports development methods for data extraction, transformation, and loading
- Provides ongoing support and maintenance of data models, and related data components such as databases, warehouses and lakes as required
- Performs reverse engineering of data models from legacy systems/solutions on an as needed basis (e.g. databases, SQL scripts, stored procedures, pipelines);
- Optimizes and updates logical organization-wide data models to support new and existing projects along with maintaining corresponding metadata and definitions
- Evaluates/analyses data models and data endpoints for variances and discrepancies and validates business data objects for accuracy and completeness
- Ensures all data sources, systems and processes are designed with security and data governance in mind, especially those involving confidential/sensitive data related to employee and labour relations, financial, accounting and audit data, Institutional Research data, and Student Information Data
- Ensure data models and pipelines comply with all security standards and practices
- Adheres to all security best practices for operational support and privileged access rights
- Recommends pro-active monitoring to ensure identification, response and resolution of data related incidents
- Recommends changes and improvements for data environment including but not limited to cost reduction, cyber security, data protection, optimizing data delivery, performance, upgrades, and enhancements
- Provides expertise and guidance regarding data related projects and issues to all areas of the organization

**Qualifications**:

- Three-year Diploma/Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Programming, Information Systems, Business, Technology Management, Data Science or related field, is required
- Seven years of experience in a technology-relate role in or a combination of IT support, analysis, infrastructure, programming/development, architecture and/or data is required
- Experience in data modelling and data store design working with/managing confidential and highly sensitive data including the handling of personal and organizationally sensitive information
- Advanced knowledge and experience working on the Azure data platform, including but not limited to Azure Data Lake, Blob Storage, Azure Data Factory, Azure Synapse, Dataverse and Databricks
- Ability to design and articulate complex technical concepts into executable development work packages
- Knowledge and ability to work through complex issues with SQL/stored procedures and/or Python used in automating processes related to data flow and data transformation
