The Maritime Historian of Canadian Adventure Charters Ltd is responsible for the success of the Corporation. Reporting directly to the Board of Directors, the Maritime Historian is responsible for historical shipwreck report preparation and delivery, and providing Subject Matter Expert advice to CAC, investors and regulators related to historical data management, in concordance with the Corporation’s mission, values, goals, operating principles, and strategic actions.

To participate in the development of our luxury explore yacht and submarine charter platform and build our brand/product and website in collaboration with the marketing executives’ teams.

To participate in the promotion of Newfoundland & Labrador and The Northwest Passage, at charter destinations within CAC’s selected charter operations loop into Newfoundland, to Labrador, Northwest Passage, Spain, Canary Islands, Bahamas and Antarctica.

To participate in the building of a charter yachting destination industry in Newfoundland & Labrador has our yachting & submarine hub for Newfoundland & Labrador & Northwest Passage Charter Adventures, Submarine Dive Expeditions, Exploration, Treasure & Shipwreck Recovery, Underwater Film/ Documentary Entertainment
- Climate Change/Global Warming Research.

JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES and REQUIRMENTS

This position is a senior management position in the Corporation, with responsibility for:
As a Maritime Historian, you will: Recommends projects and priorities in anticipation of future management needs. Responds to internal and external inquiries on history-related issues; conducts research and drafts for shipwrecks, government funding programs, and projects in which CAC has an interest

The Maritime Historian has the ability to design and implement analyses of a variety of historical materials - to include historic shipwreck records - associated with CAC,s mandate to identify war ships, merchant ships and passenger’s ships, sunken in the coastal waters of the Atlantic of Canada

Minimum Education and Experience Requirements for the position:
Ph. D. in Maritime History and Shipwreck Recovery

Minimum of 15 years experience working with Maritime Museum’s in Canada, Spain, Canary Islands, Bahamas and USA- Global

Critical Work Responsibilities:
Follow CAC,s policies and procedures to serve as a maritime historian to conduct research and draft reports to support case progression.

This role is critical in promoting a positive corporate image and maintaining strong external communication with key stakeholders, investors, clients, media, and public relations.

Ensure accurate and comprehensive data is recorded in accordance with CAC policies and procedures, and all reports meet CAC standards.

Provide comprehensive maritime historian support for projects that may include a specific geographic or topical focus, such as World War 1- World War 2 battlefields, bad weather storm shipwrecks, pirate treasures or foundational case research. Great knowledge of John Cabot and the French, English, British & Portuguese merchant ships. Knowledge of the Vikings sailing to Newfoundland and Labrador and threw the Northwest Passage

Significant and proven leadership skills developed through at least 10 years as a senior director with a management role and experience related to economic and business development activity in marine resource development, treasure & shipwreck recovery

Provide support for mission planning and future operations scope, to include, data collections, charts, mapping and imagery analysis for case development.

Comply with all CAC requirements for reporting and coordinating all plans and results through all appropriate channels.

The Maritime Historian has great knowledge of the Treasure of Oak Island and understanding of the site operations, investors/shareholders and the TV production company the History Channel

Protects organization’s value by keeping information confidential.

Comprehensive knowledge in designing, directing and supervising all phases of archaeological projects to include Phase I, Phase II, and Phase III archaeological processes, underwater sonar mapping methods and techniques.

Expert knowledge of artifacts and material evidence analysis to include identifying circumstantial and direct evidence supporting shipwreck site identifications.

Ability to write, implement, and follow standard operating procedures.

Possess strong written and verbal communication skills, with demonstrated ability to successfully communicate complex information to a wide variety of audiences.
