**Who are you?**

Svante is a rapidly growing clean energy technology company making commercial-scale carbon capture and removal a reality and enabling global industries to play offence in the fight against climate change.

R&D in Svante is focusing on research efforts, development of the technology, sharing knowledge, and directly influencing downstream product development; that needs to perform different types of projects.

This will take a commitment to be hands-on, participate in, and encourage engagement in continuous improvement activities. The LC will develop and champion the Kaizen Continuous Improvement program, which will be a metric of staff engagement. The LC will also champion the preparing the Kanban system.

**Key Responsibilities**:

- Systematically improve R&D processes under the guidance of the Program Manager.
- Working on process activities at the R&D that include fixture design, Poke Yoke, line mapping, process layouts, value stream mapping, and Lean implementations.
- Recommend and reinforce to implement changes to process procedures and modifications to improve the safety, efficiency, & yield of the R&D processes.
- Mentor and collaborate with the R&D employees on Lean tools/principles and implementation of improvements.
- Lead exercises on Lean concepts such as:

- The 8 wastes
- 5s
- One-Piece-Flow exercises
- Value-added / non-value-added activity
- Mentor staff on 5s in their environment.
- Perform 5s audits that gently nudge staff towards improvement.
- Working and assisting with red-tagging events.
- Sustain lean knowledge with toolbox/production meetings.
- Lead Kaizen Continuous Improvement program.
- Promote participation in the culture of Kaizen.
- Track approval, implementation, and ROI of Kaizen ideas.
- Co-Design & implement Kanban systems with Supply Chain.
- Train staff to empower them to Kanban both internal and external material.
- Maintains a safe and clean working environment by enforcing procedures, rules, and regulations.
- Partner with the R&D Program manager to champion safety activities.

**Key Qualifications**:

- Experience: 3+ years of experience.
- Education: Bachelors or greater education in an engineering discipline, or equivalent years of experience.
- Excellent practiced knowledge of Lean Manufacturing.
- Project management skills.
- Being able to show evidence of playing a key role in the success of 5S / Lean implementation is paramount.
- Being able to demonstrate successful improvement against key R&D metrics is highly desirable.
- Excellent interpersonal and human relations skills; ability to work with people of varied technical backgrounds and at all management levels.
- Being able to demonstrate a trend of cascading & transferring these skills & knowledge to team members as part of building a team of world-class excellence.
- Observes health & safety and security procedures and demonstrates safety-based behaviour culture.
- Effective analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Must naturally espouse Svante values and believe in our Goals and Objectives.
