**Responsibilities**

The teacher will travel to teach in the students' homes in the Coquitlam and Port Coquitlam areas. We advocate the RCM curriculum, but do not prescribe a particular method for beginners or force students to do examinations. The teacher is free to teach in response to the individual needs of each student and their goals.

As a contractor, you will be responsible for setting your own schedule. The teacher will be free to build up their schedule in a flexible way that suits their aspirations. Good organization and communication skills are key so that you can arrange classes with the families. We also host two recitals per year. The teacher is encouraged to prepare their students for these performances.

**Qualifications**
- Drivers' License and access to your own, reliable vehicle (Must Have)
- Bachelors Degree in Music
- RCM Level 10 Piano or equivalent
- Prior Teaching Experience required (Minimum of 2 Years)
- Must be legally able to work in Canada
- Fluent English, both spoken and written
- Willingness to obtain a police background check

**Skills**
- Must be able to engage and connect with kids and youth
- Knowledgable of Piano Pedagogy and different teaching methods.
- Excellent communication skills with parents and the business.
- Punctual and organized.
- Prepare lesson plans and strategies effectively.
- Ability to teach a second instrument is an asset.

**Summit Music **is a small family business bringing a high standard of tuition to the homes of students across Vancouver, North Shore & Tri Cities since 2019. Our students have scored highly in local and international competitions, including multiple performances at Carnegie Hall, New York. Our goal is to bring positive and ambitious music study to our students with dedication, longevity and consistency. We want music to be at the forefront of a child's overall development.

As we grow our business, we want to foster long-term relationships between teachers and students, so that both parties enjoy a rewarding experience over many years. We want to compensate teachers fairly for the amazing work that they do, to enable this long-term partnership to prosper.

**Job Types**: Part-time, Fixed term contract
Contract length: 10 months

Pay: $40.00-$55.00 per hour
