**Overview**:
The Josiah Henson Museum of African Canadian History is seeking a passionate and enthusiastic summer student Museum Attendant to join our team. As a vital member of our museum staff, you will play a key role in enhancing the visitor experience and promoting the rich heritage of African Canadian history.

**Responsibilities**:

- **Visitor Services**: Welcome visitors to the museum, provide information about exhibits, events, and programs, and assist with any inquiries or requests.
- **Exhibit Maintenance**: Monitor and maintain exhibits to ensure they are presented in an engaging and orderly manner. This may include dusting artifacts, organizing displays, and reporting any issues to museum management.
- **Guided Tours**: Conduct guided tours for visitors, offering insightful commentary on the museum's collections, historical significance, and the life of Josiah Henson.
- **Event Support**: Assist with the planning, setup, and execution of museum events and programs, including workshops, lectures, and special exhibitions.
- **Administrative Tasks**: Perform basic administrative duties such as answering phones, processing admissions, and handling retail sales in the museum gift shop.
- **Cleaning and housekeeping**:Perform basic cleaning tasks such as dusting, sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, and cleaning bathrooms at the museum daily.

**Qualifications**:

- Currently enrolled in post-secondary studies that you'll be returning to in the fall.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage visitors of all ages and backgrounds.
- A passion for African Canadian history and a desire to share this knowledge with others.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
- Previous experience in customer service, museums, or cultural institutions is an asset.

**Job Type**: Seasonal
Contract length: 15 weeks

**Salary**: From $16.55 per hour

Expected hours: 36.25 per week
