This position is part-time, for twenty hours per week (days and hours will be negotiated) beginning mid-August 2023. Experience in a library setting is required.

This person will work individually and with a team to provide generous hospitality and exceptional librarian support for our Christian high school. They will work independently to manage the school library.

**Duties and Responsibilities**:

- Maintains an efficient system of cataloging, classifying, and circulating library materials - including shelving duties.
- Review and purchase periodical and newspaper subscriptions (print and digital)
- Repair books before re-shelving; prepare textbooks to be sent to the bindery at the end of each school year and process upon return
- Review book circulation annually and discard books that have not been circulated within five years or as appropriate
- Seek quality resource materials that provide a Christian perspective
- Be a resource person to staff in developing course projects
- Assist students in developing information skills for required research projects
- Build resources, in partnership with staff, which complement the research required by staff and students
- Maintain an environment conducive to learning while at the same time ensuring that the library is a safe, friendly, and inviting place to be
- Maintain procedures that ensure productive and proper use of all library equipment and resources
- Manage textbook purchase, processing, and distribution
- Maintain collegial connections with other Christian high school librarians and local libraries
- Prepare and administer the library budget
- Keep up-to-date with teen resources through book suppliers, library catalogs, conferences, library group websites, etc.
- Lead library programs such as Book Club
- Other duties as assigned by the Leadership Team

**Qualifications and Attributes**:

- The ability to develop positive and welcoming relationships with teenagers
- An understanding of and commitment to Christian education, in particular, HDCH’s mission and vision
- The ability to complete tasks within an environment where priorities may be shifting
- Effective teamwork skills; ability to work in a collaborative environment
- Previous library work experience
- ILS experience and digital fluency
- Good business communication skills, including both written and verbal communications

At a minimum, a Library Technician diploma or equivalent is recommended.

**Hours & Compensation**

This part-time position is 20 hours per week. The remuneration for this position ranges from $24.68 - $29.13 per hour depending on experience and education. Vacation allotment for this role includes two weeks at Christmas, one week at March Break, and four weeks in summer. A comprehensive benefits package is included in the compensation.
