Material Handler

**Summary**

Material Handler/Operator performs manual and clerical duties related to shipping, receiving, inspecting, storing, issuing and delivering a variety of materials, equipment and supplies. Work as part of the team to support production in a safe, efficient and effective manner to meet and exceed the goals and objectives of the company and the customers. The Material Handler/Operator requires having a valid Truck Lift license and providing on the job training on all RTCIS/Inventory transactions to new employees. Adhere to the Employee Policy Manual.

**Primary Responsibilities**
- Perform prescribed warehouse management system by entering all material movements in the company's computerized inventory system.
- Prioritize activities to ensure that production schedules are maintained.
- Responsible to adhere with all company rules and safe practices as described in the employee policy and procedures manuals.
- Perform Julian dates in RTCIS as required. Scan all RTCIS materials and move all components to the production lines.
- Ensure all components for each job (trays, corner posts, etc.) are moved to required areas and that materials are listed in the Specifications.
- Facilitate in warehouse moves to allow space for line takeaway of produced items.
- Assist line leaders with RTCIS material movements.
- Load and unload trailers following procedures. Stretch wrap and line takeaway.
- Distribute non-RTCIS materials to designated areas.
- Secure materials at the end of a project. Ensure line clearance procedures are followed.
- Print out shipping paperwork for drivers. Anticipate problems and suggest solutions to be implemented to ensure continuous improvement.
- Participate in team meetings and on other committees as available.
- Assist in the orientation of new employees and training on all RTCIS/Inventory transactions.
- Determine when stock levels reach the re-order point.
- Spot check accuracy of warehouse rows on a daily basis.
- Manage shipment records in-bound and out-bound.

**Quality Management**
- Knowledgeable on Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs) requirements.
- Report quality issues to the Quality Assurance Manager.
- Provide input to resolve quality issues.

**Risk Management**
- Responsible for following provincial and company health and safety regulations.
- Qualify and maintain safety certifications if required.
- Assist in workplace inspections when requested.
- Follow plant safe practices as instructed.
- Identify safety issues to the Supervisor and work in a safe manner at all times.

**Qualifications (Required education/experience/skills/abilities)**
- High school diploma and/or related work experience. Require to possess a current safety certification, valid lift truck license with the ability to operate a lift truck in a safe manner (good vision, hearing, and manual dexterity).
- Effective communication skills (verbal and listening) are required and reading comprehension skills.
- Knowledge of automated or computerized system operation and the ability to use WMS computer systems and input and interpret data as required.
- Verify, organize and manage records, electronically.
- To be actively support a positive team environment, be supportive and flexible to changing processes.
- Good numeracy skills.
- There is mínimal exposure to weather conditions. The nature of physical effort leading to muscle strain while performing the duties of this job the employee is frequently required to stand, walk, bending, lifting, pulling, use of hands, noise, climbing, and exposure to some form of toxic chemicals. Physical ability to load and unload materials as required.
