**Title: Tech Bar Assistant (Makerspace)**

**Job Grade: 4**

**Hours: 10 to 15 hours per week - may include Sundays**

**About the Makerspace**

The Makerspace, located at Westminster Square Branch, allows the community to discover, learn, and create in a dynamic hands-on learning environment. With a focus on innovation, experimentation, and equipping users with new skills, the Makerspace provides access to equipment such as laser cutting, embroidery, 3D-printing, digitization, and audio and video equipment, as well as software such as Adobe Creative Cloud.

**Job Summary**:
A Tech Bar Assistant is responsible for maintaining and running the Tech Bar and its devices.

All employees are required to:

- Promote the Guelph Public Library Mission Statement
- Provide exemplary customer service
- Cultivate a healthy and safe workplace

**Duties**:
**Responsibilities**:

- Maintain the Tech Bar (turn devices on and charged, tidy area)
- Promote and market the Tech Bar
- Assist Customers with Technology-related questions
- Run Technology programs and demonstrations
- Assist in maintaining:

- an inviting and orderly library environment,
- Prompt and efficient customer service at all service desks
- Other duties as required

**Knowledge, Skills and Qualifications**:

- Minimum Grade 12 education is mandatory
- Exceptional computer and technology skills
- Great communication skills
- Knowledge of GPL’s eResources
- Previous Library experience is considered an asset
- Ability to lift up to 20kg periodically
- Ability to stand for up to 7 hours per day
- Ability to work accurately, independently and as part of a team
- A willingness to take initiative and make a difference in the community we serve
- Driver’s License and access to vehicle an asset

**Job Types**: Part-time, Contract
Contract length: 6 months

Pay: $22.95-$28.17 per hour

Expected hours: 10 - 15 per week

Schedule:

- Monday to Friday
- Weekends as needed

Work Location: In person
