SSR Mining - Seabee Gold Operation (SGO) is hiring for a Blaster.
About Your New Role:
Reporting to the Supervisor, Mine Operations, the Blaster, will be responsible for loading explosives in blast holes by hand. You will be responsible for face prep and tie-in to the pattern by connecting electrical waves, detonating cords into series. You will partner with the Supervisor to coordinate the strategic support for the needs of the mine to operate in an effective, efficient, and safe manner.
Your Key Responsibilities:
- Create and maintain a strong safety culture.- Promote and consistently implement company safety policies.- Maintain detailed and accurate shift records.- Perform work area housekeeping duties.- Maintain a safe work area, free of any hazards.- Perform Field Level Risk Assessments.- Complete proper pre-op inspection on all equipment.- Properly place barricades delineating blast site.- Operate all equipment within the drill and blast patterns in a safe manner.
Your Knowledge and Skills:
- Must be able to work independently.- Must be able to communicate effectively.- Must be able to lift 30-50 lbs.- Excellent organizational and problem-solving skills.- Basic math/computer skills required.- Must be able to comprehend written and verbal instructions as required to perform duties.- Must be able to follow proper procedure to ensure safety and to control equipment damage.- A positive and proactive attitude towards safety is essential.
Your Education and Experience:
- Completed Grade 12 or equivalent.- 2-3 years’ blasting experience in an underground hard rock mine.- Experience with blast design programs.
About Our Working Conditions:
This position has a schedule of 2 weeks on, 2 weeks off at our remote camp which you will be required to fly in fly out with pick up points in Saskatoon, Prince Albert and La Ronge.
