**Nature of the work**
Assist handicapped students in participating in activities related to their schooling.
**Description of tasks**
- Assists the student in moving from one location to another, including to and from their mode of transportation
- Ensures the student's personal hygiene
- Supervise students during recess and lunch, meal periods, and recreation time
- Assists the teacher in communicating basic concepts of cleanliness and personal care, such as dressing, eating and drinking
- Assists the student in preparing and carrying out pedagogical and student activities
- Records observations concerning the student's needs and behaviours. May be required to inform teachers, parents and other designated staff and give advice on the measures specified in the individual education plan.
- Perform any other related duty.
**Desired profile**
Meet one of the following 2 profiles:
1) Hold a Diploma of Vocational Studies in _Assistance in Health Care Facilities_
2) Hold a Secondary School Diploma, or a diploma or attestation of studies recognized as equivalent and have one (1) year of pertinent experience in those areas requiring self-discipline, general concepts in psychology and human relations skills.
**Other requirements**
- Hold a certificate dated no more than three (3) years attesting to the successful completion of:
- a standard first aid course of a minimum eight (8)-hour duration;
- a refresher course of a minimum six(6)-hour duration updating the skills acquired in the course mentioned in subparagraph 1.
- Bilingual (French and English)
