Under the direct supervision of the Manager of Indigenous Collaboration, Equity, & Inclusion (ICEI), the Cultural

Safety Educator (CSE) is responsible for advancing patient experience through the development, coordination, and

delivery of quality culturally safety education to staff, partners, and volunteers. The CSE will adapt and facilitate the

Repairing the Sacred Circle training at TBRHSC, in partnership with the joint Indigenous Health Education

Committee with St. Joseph's Care Group. They will also provide consultation and direction to address specific

cultural safety issues; participate in the development of guidelines, systems, and measurements to support the

achievement of cultural safety; and collaborate with community partners and colleagues in other disciplines to ensure

appropriate staff development and participation in education and cultural safety initiatives.

EMPLOYMENT REQUIREMENTS:
Education/Experience:

- Undergraduate diploma or degree in education, health‑related discipline, or an equivalent level of experience
- Experience in inter‑professional equity, diversity, and inclusion/cultural safety education
- Experience with adult learning principles and practices

Skills/Abilities:

- Flexibility to teach in different learning environments using traditional, computer‑based, cultural, and innovative

teaching methods
- Skilled in organization and time management
- Skilled in collecting and organizing staff and partner feedback
- Ability to work with different partners and learner population with effective facilitation and presentation skills
- Ability to motivate staff and create a safe environment conducive to learning and patient care
- Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing
- Ability to assess and manage conflict in environments that are often cross‑cultural, emotionally‑charged, and deal

with complex learning
- Ability to work with Indigenous communities/organizations and build relationships
- Ability to lead, problem‑solve, and utilize team‑building skills
- Ability to be self‑directed and work independently and in a team environment
- Ability to deal with cultural sensitivity
- Ability to design education plans, including educational materials, resources, and lesson plans
- Ability to teach, coach, and mentor all levels of staff and partners

Assets:

- Knowledge of data collection, use of databases, data analysis, and evaluation methodology
- Event planning experience

Salary Range: $40.803 to 48.003
