**Reports to**:Extrusion Supervisor**

**Direct Reports**: This position has supervisory responsibilities.

**Position Summary**:
The Extruder Lead Hand is responsible for supervising extruder personnel by insuring that the production time is met, and inspecting materials to verify conformance with quality standards.

The Extruder Lead Hand works closely with the Production Manager to ensure that products are produced and shipped on time. The key focus of this position will be to create and support a working environment and culture that continuously improves Quality, Productivity and Safety.

**Primary Responsibilities**:
Provide ongoing training and development opportunities for team members to enhance their skills and knowledge of extrusion processes, equipment operation, safety procedures, and quality standards.
- Maintain accurate records of production activities, including production output, downtime, quality inspections, and maintenance activities.
- Generate reports on key performance indicators (KPIs), providing insights and recommendations to management for decision-making purposes.
- Enforce quality control procedures to ensure that extruded products meet specifications and standards. Conduct regular inspections and implement corrective actions to address deviations or defects.
- Perform daily inspect and or audit of finished products before they are shipped.
- Plan, organize, and prioritize extrusion activities to meet production schedules and customer demands.
- Monitor production metrics such as throughput, yield, and downtime, making adjustments as necessary to optimize efficiency and minimize waste.
- Coordinate with other departments to ensure seamless workflow and timely delivery of products.
- Coordinate with Maintenance for Preventative Maintenance and repairs
- Identify opportunities for process optimization, cost reduction, and waste minimization within the extrusion operation.
- Implement continuous improvement initiatives to enhance productivity, quality, and efficiency.
- Monitor and assess employee performance.
- Complete Shift activity reports and submit to production manager daily.
- Replace extruder personnel if absent.
- Maintain Housekeeping at a high level in Extrusion area, through the involvement of all extruder employees.
- Promote a culture of safety and adherence to regulatory requirements within the extrusion operation.
- Perform other duties as assigned.

**Education**:

- High School Diploma or equivalent.

**Experience**:

- Minimum of three (3) years’ work experience in a supervisory/lead hand role within a manufacturing/production environment or equivalent.

**Licenses/Certificates**:
Forklift License Required (must attain and maintain).
- Reach Truck License Required (must attain and maintain).
- First Aid Certification is preferred (must be willing to attain and remain certified).

**Other Knowledge, Skills and Abilities**
- Have excellent math and measurement skills.
- Acute vision and color identification.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Ability to maintain accurate and orderly records.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Capable of operating all extrusion lines.

**Hours of Work**:

- 12 Hour Rotating Shifts

Overtime will be a requirement in order to meet unforeseen scheduling and human resource concerns and to respond to equipment malfunctions.

**Job Types**: Full-time, Permanent

**Salary**: From $27.85 per hour
