Evaporator and Separator Operator

Lactalis is one of Canada’s leading producers of premium quality food products including milk, cheese and yogurt. We are currently recruiting for a Evaporator / Separator Operator to join our processing department in our production facility in Winchester, Ontario which produces butter, cheese, powder, and margarine.

**Position: Evaporator and Separator Operator - Utility (Hourly, Unionized)**

**Shift: 12-hour shifts with overtime pay and shift premiums**

**(Saturday’s x1.5 and Sunday’s double time)**

**Duties and Responsibilities Include**:
**Separator**:

- Follow safety procedures and work in a safe manner (LOTO, PPE, Guarding, etc.)
- Must work closely with evaporator operator and UF operator.
- Operation of all separators and cream pasteurizer.
- Operation of wash up, and preventive maintenance of cream pasteurizer, separators, clarifier, RO, Polisher and auxiliary equipment.
- Documentation of necessary process information.
- Responsible for product quality.
- Responsible for carrying out and documenting all requirements for HACCP, such as sanitary maintenance programs.
- Conduct Attendant and Entrant duties as needed
- Other duties as assigned.

**Evaporator**:

- Follow safety procedures and work in a safe manner (LOTO, PPE, Guarding, etc.)
- Operation of milk and whey evaporators and auxiliary equipment.
- Minor repair and tear down of various equipment.
- Willing and able to climb and perform tasks at heights ranging from approximately 10 ft. up to 60 ft.
- Documentation and recording of necessary process information.
- Wash-up of evaporators and equipment as per sanitation procedures and GMP requirements.
- Responsible for quality of evaporator products.
- General cleaning of department and ensuring effective GMP procedures are followed.
- Coordinate activities.
- Conduct Attendant and Entrant duties as needed
- Other duties as assigned
- Completion of secondary school (OSSD or equivalent)
- Able to safely operate mechanical devices
- Ability to quickly identify and take action in a safe manner
- Ability to safely lift up to 40lbs
- Previous experience in manufacturing, particularly in food industry, is an asset
- Flexible availability for all shifts
- Must be available to workdays, nights and weekends
