Under the general supervision of the Maintenance and Construction Foreman - Mechanical, the Plumber/Pipefitter installs, inspects, maintains, and repairs plumbing systems and equipment by analyzing problems, dismantling, adjusting, replacing and/or repairing components as required in facilities under the Division’s jurisdiction in accordance with standard trades practices, certification, applicable codes and manufacturers specifications.

**As the **_Plumber/Pipefitter, _**you will**:

- Maintain and repair plumbing systems.
- Coordinate Contractors.
- Conduct backflow inspections.

**Your education and qualifications include**:

- Experience with commercial and industrial piping installations.
- Experience welding, soldering, brazing, and various methods of joining pipes as required by the trade.
- Experience using hand and power tools and measuring instruments.
- Ability to coordinate and monitor work performed by contractors in the areas of installation, repair, or maintenance of associated equipment.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints and drawings.
- Ability to work independently with mínimal supervision.
- Ability to instruct and train junior staff.
- Interpersonal skills with the ability to establish and maintain good working relationships.
- Verbal communication skills with the ability to communicate effectively with various colleagues and clients.
- Written communication skills with the ability to complete documents clearly and concisely.
- Organizational skills with the ability to prioritize and schedule work while maintaining required records.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Outlook, Excel and Word.
- Knowledge of the regulations applicable to the trade in addition to related occupational hazards and safety precautions is desired.

**Conditions of employment**:

- The successful applicant must maintain legal eligibility to work in Canada. If the successful applicant possesses a work permit, it is their responsibility to ensure the permit remains valid.
- Must possess and maintain a valid Class 5 Manitoba Driver’s License.
- Must possess a Red Seal Gas Fitter Journeyman certificate recognized by the Province of Manitoba.
- Must possess and maintain a current Cross-Connection & Backflow Prevention Tester license.
- Must possess and maintain a Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Services Service person license.
- Must possess a St. John’s Ambulance Emergency First Aid Certificate or equivalent or willingness and ability to obtain it within three (3) months.
- Must be physically capable of performing all of the duties of the position, in all weather conditions.
