We are currently hiring **Part-Time** **Therapeutic Recreationists** to join the team.

Assist the Recreation & Volunteer Coordinator with the planning and delivery of
meaningful recreational programs in all areas of the Facility:
- Assist the Recreation & Volunteer Coordinator with the planning and directing of recreational programs.
- Organize and direct individual and group activities.
- Write out and deliver monthly calendars. Post daily activities on boards on the RHA’s
- Help decorate activity boards when appropriate for theme days.
- Be responsible for Recreation participation daily and monthly statistics.
- Evaluate ongoing activities and Recreation programs with the Recreation & Volunteer Coordinator.
- To be available for evening and weekend work programs when scheduled.
- Participate when called upon in the Resident Care Conference process.
- Purchase recreation and craft supplies (responsible for own program)
- Conduct post-admission interviews with the Resident, documenting an assessment profile and goals.
- Complete Documentation as per LTCH Act and Regulations, including but not limited to Care Plans, quarterlies, G.A.S. etc.
- Act as liaison between Residents and Recreation & Volunteer Coordinator when needed.
- Participate in public relations through programs such as open houses and intergenerational programs with community schools.
- Attend and participate in educational workshops and conferences as appropriate.
- Complete both food and maintenance requisitions relating to programs and submit to appropriate personnel.
- Responsible for announcements on the home areas, e.g. programs, church, etc.
- Responsible for writing thank you letters when required.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Adhere to Provincial Occupational Health and Safety legislation and the facility Occupational Health and Safety Policies and Procedures
**REQUIREMENTS**:
- College diploma in Recreation or Gerontology as a field of study from an Ontario postsecondary institution or a postsecondary diploma, degree or certificate granted from another jurisdiction that the home reasonably believes is equivalent. May require post graduate Therapeutic Recreation Certificate and/or equivalent.
- Strong knowledge of Alzheimer's Disease, and other dementias, as well as other chronic health challenges (e.g. MS, Parkinsons, stroke, mental illness )
- Proven ability to design therapeutic recreation programs.
- GPA-Gentle Persuasive Approach in Dementia Care
- Above average empathetic, listening and reflective skills.
- Strong leadership skills that are customer-service focussed in keeping with the "Care Culture" of St. Peter's Residence at chedoke.
- Well developed time management, organizational, and multi-tasking abilities
- Competent personal computer skills (e.g. Microsoft Office )
- Ability to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing.
