ArcelorMittal Hamilton East representative for contacting MECP and City of Hamilton or other stakeholders (Municipal Agencies, Customers, Suppliers, industry related groups and community organizations, etc..).

Responding to environmental emergencies, events or incidents (e.g. spills):

- Collect required samples (e.g. contaminated soil, wastewater, surface water) to verify the effectiveness of remedial work.

Support/coordinate certain environmental work carried out by subcontractors or consultants at Hamilton East site (Phase I - II ESA’s, ECA’s, remediation works, etc )
- Ensure that subcontractors and consultants comply with all occupational health and safety standards.
- Issue and update daily work permits.
- Verify the quality of the work.

Create purchase requisitions and receive invoices for External Training Agencies, Environmental Reporting requirements, Signage, etc.

Provide daily and weekly summaries to management with respect to environmental incidents.

To do this, the following mandates will be worked on:

- Implement and maintain monitoring and control mechanisms to ensure compliance with all relevant environmental regulations.
- Take action to improve the company's environmental performance.
- **Conducts environmental assessments of production unit operations and provides comprehensive and transparent information to better management on current environmental issues and opportunities for improvement.**:

- **Develop an employment training program on appropriate methods and procedures to prevent environmental risks and promote better environmental management throughout the company's operations.**:

- Develop and promote ways to minimize waste, maximize recycling opportunities and transform, where possible, waste into co-products that can be reused as raw materials for other industries.

All related tasks.

Qualifications:

- Bachelor's or master’s degree in Environment or relevant science degree.
- Intermediate experience of 3 to 5 years as an environmental professional.
- Proficiency on office suite software (Word, Excel, SharePoint, etc...).
