The Regional District of Kootenay Boundary (RDKB) is located in the southern interior of British Columbia and prides itself on providing smart, sustainable governance and services to its constituents throughout our 8,200 km2 region. Our head office is located in the City of Trail, which combined with the nearby communities of Warfield, Montrose, Fruitvale and Rossland, is home to a population of approximately 20,000.

Reporting to the Manager of Infrastructure and Sustainability, the WaterSmart Ambassador is a summer position aimed at achieving significant reduction of water consumption in RDKB Water Utilities through public education. The WaterSmart Ambassador will work on behalf of the RDKB to deliver water conservation programs to customers of RDKB water systems. This role will require significant time in the field throughout the region.

The primary goals of this community-focused position are:

- Increase local interest and awareness of water conservation and the WaterSmart Initiative.
- Reduce overall water use through public education and outreach activities, such as xeriscaping and irrigation education.
- For funding reasons, must be between 15 and 30 years of age and participating in post-secondary education
- Previous public education and/or customer service experience
- Passion for water and environmental issues
- Plant identification and landscape design skills are highly desired
- Able to work effectively with mínimal supervision
- Valid BC Drivers License

Compensation: $23.48 (2024) plus 10% in lieu of benefits
